Chapter161

#Chapter161

/"So,/" Micah said softly, his tone deprived of life, sounding as though just speaking was a drain on his whole existence, /"I heard something real interesting about you./"

I tried not to squirm beneath his gaze. I tried to keep my face void of any tell-tale signs that there was actually anything I was guilty of. My hands dug into the hard plastic of my seat, the mouth-watering scent of Subway filling the air; usually, it made me feel hungry but now, it only made me feel nauseous.

/"Yeah,/" Jordan piped in, dissecting his sandwich sub, his eyes sparkling with cold delight. He was sat to Micah's right, feeling pretty damn big about himself, like it made him his right-hand goon, or whatever. Charlie, a kid that didn't usually hang around with us, or didn't use to, at least, sat to his left. I sat opposite all three of them and even though I had been the one to message and arrange the late morning breakfast, it felt like an interrogation.
