Maybe it was part of their lingo, but even still, he found himself grinning. The word echoed in his mind, inducing a series of giggles. Carefully setting the bottle at his feet, he snagged the pad out of his pocket. He'd remembered to grab it before they left the house. Barely. It'd been an afterthought, and Link had rushed him. The mad bolt up the series of staircases had killed him. He'd been sweating and panting by the time he'd made it to Link's car.

Unsure what he was supposed to say — what he was allowed to say — he just wrote something basic.

/"Victor named you as Link's Ward?/" she read before letting out a low whistle. /"I bet he was fuming./"

He certainly wasn't very happy about it. As the book was handed back to him, he took the chance to sate his curiosity and scribbled down a question, mimicking her speaking style.

What's Link's deal? Why's he so mean?
