I started to read through some of the text messages that had been sent, ignoring any with Joel's name on. Nicky had a point: I did deserve the full story and Joel deserved to be heard out. He had always been kind to me, even if it all was a joke at my expense.

That made me feel a little better, but not by much. Angel had been big, scary and brooding so I had come to the conclusion that even though he had ended up smiling, he didn't like me very much.
