#Chapter66
VEGAS
Present day
Anxiety pushed my knees to the floor.
Kae barreled into me. On unsteady legs, I teetered backward.
Sturdy hands kept us from falling.
Hands . . . then a broad chest at my back. Strong arms circled around us. A small tousled head nestled on my left shoulder while a larger one rested on the right.
And both shook with uncontrollable sobs.
I had a hard time dragging Jae out of Kae’s room. He would have slept there by her crib if I would have let him. Since she ran into my arms in the hallway, he only had eyes for her.
It was time to find out what he was thinking. That if the revelation he experienced drew us closer or further apart. If it were the latter. I’d move on, but I had to know. I’d waited long enough.
I took his hand in mine. He didn’t pull away, so I saw it as a good sign. I led him to the library—neutral ground and far from the temptation of my bedroom.
