Jae and I left Sho and Axel at the valet. Sho had dragged her eyes from Axel’s stormy ones to give me a nod as if to say, /"do what you need to do./" She knew where I was headed and what I had to reveal.

It was long overdue.

We walked to Jae’s car as silent as the night.

He drove while I spouted off directions to the house like my heart wasn’t in my throat, threatening to choke me. The closer we came to Jae learning of Kae’s existence, the more difficult it became to draw a full breath.

Vivid images of Jae’s reaction, his wife’s, and my daughter’s future, swirled darkly in my mind.

Jae’s anger.

His wife’s derisive laughter.
