Instinct

Violet's POV

We walk out and go through a narrow alley between other nests and caves. They're pretty close to each other. It's a bit cramped here. As I follow him I see other beasts but they are all, well close to naked! Do they not have clothes here? Why is everyone looking at me strange? I look down and check what I am wearing.

Makes sense now. I am fully clothed. I have my school uniform still on. Skirt, inside shirt and jacket with boots. They must be wondering what all of this is. I look down upon passing by all these naked men. We are so close, any of them could rub up against me and I would feel all of what we should not be seeing. One of the birdlike beasts walks up to us.

"Jee, who is this? She is beautiful. Is she your female?" he asks excitingly

"No she is not. But I hope if she gives me a chance that I may be her male partner." he says softly and hides his expression

I thought he wanted me to leave? Has he already warmed up to me

"If you are not satisfied with him I am available and would love a female like you." the bird beast says to me

"Wait a minute wait a minute. You guys know the rules. She chooses who she wants and that's final." An older female bird beasts says while walking towards me

I step back as she looks like she's about to either attack me or bear hug me

"Don't be so scared, I would never hurt another female. It's just been so long for a young beautiful beast to come here. We are in the outskirts so we rarely see new females come this way. May I ask what a beautiful female like you are doing here?" she asks

"She has lost her memory and is not too sure. I found her and brought her here hoping that she would find this place as a future home." Jee says to the lady

"That was a great idea! Let's have Jee give you a tour and tonight we can feast." the lady says and gives me a hug

"If she doesn't want him as a partner it must be explained." another male shouts

"Yeah!" I hear other males scream

I instinctively hide behind Jee due to everyone making me nervous.

"Looks like you guys are all too late. She has found her shield." the lady says to me and winks at us

I look up and see Jee blushing. I looked down and didn't realize I was holding him on his waist hiding behind his wings.

"Oh! I am so sorry. It was instinct." I say to him apologetically

I see everyone look at me amazed when they hear me say instinct.

"Don't worry. When someone moves on instinct it means more than just that. You will find out soon my dear. For now go ahead and take a look around. Everyone, let's enjoy tonight and have a good feast." she says while everyone agrees and cheers

Jee walks up ahead of me and I follow. Man, he is walking really fast. I might not be able to catch up.

"Are we in a rush to get somewhere?" I call out a few feet behind him

"Oh. I am sorry. I didn't realize how ahead I was. Winged beasts glide when we walk. I need to take that into consideration next time since you are not one." he says apologetically

"It's okay! I know that now too so it's something I just learned." I said back

"I am assuming you have not met many beasts from where you are from. You must be from Lenn or Jarrod." he says back to me

"Maybe. Why those places?" I ask

"Lenn does not have as many winged beasts there. Not as many high areas. More for smaller 4 legged beasts. Jarrod is the capital area of the Beast Kingdom. Only royalty winged beasts are allowed to live high in the sky. Everyone else stays on he lower or mid levels." he says to me

"Something else I have learned again today. Thank you." I say back to him

I snake a peak and see him blushing. What a cute, shy man he is. We walk towards a small stream that turns into a pond and then back out to a river. That's something I have to remember.That way I can fish and use my net overnight since I might be here for some time. We check a few hollow trees that are being used by other winged beasts as homes and I think I like that way better than the mountain nests. At least here I can come down to the ground and back up without being scared of falling.

"Do you like this? The Tree-house?" he asks me happily

"Yes I do. I think it may be a little easier for me to get to and from places instead of over there by the nest." I say back to him awkwardly

I am most likely positive that is where he lived. So I really don't want to sound rude.

"Ah. Are you considering staying here?" he asks nervously looking away blushing

"Yes of course! I have nowhere else to go so this would be a great start!" I say back to him excitingly

"That would be great! I mean we would love to have another female join our tribe. Mom would love that too." he says shyly

"So the woman back there was your mom?" I ask

"Yes. She is standing chief while my dad travels. Her name is Mariah. The chief's name is Dash. We all left what was destroyed and found this place as a home. Other winged beasts started coming as well and they had decided to make my father chief since he has the most battle experience and my mother is a doctor." he says proudly

Battle experience? So they have wars here too! I will need to be careful. And a doctor? I am glad for that for sure!

"Battle experience"? I ask worriedly

"Ah! Don't be alarmed. As much as we need to be prepared if there is anyone who wants to cause trouble here, we have been very lucky to not run into such issues. Would you like to see the rest of the territory?" he asks trying to change the subject

"Yes of course." I say back to him

We walked past the tree-houses and more into a field. It's so beautiful here. Lots of trees and are those apples? I saw pears and even oranges. Lots of nuts and pines too. These even look like sap trees!

"You like these? We use the fruits for food and nuts too." he says happily

"There is so much that you have here. It's great!" I say back smiling

"That's good to know. I am glad that you are loving our territory. I hope you intend to stay here. Everyone would be happy." he says back to me

I need brownie points to earn his trust. I can tease him just a little.

"Even you?" I ask shyly.

Throw in some batted eyes with a little shy cheeky face and I'm gold! I see him start blushing and he turns away. Oh this is going to be easy for me.

"Yes of course. Who wouldn't want a female to join their territory. It is great for our tribe." He says back to me.

"Oh just the tribe huh? I guess so then." I say back smirking

"Oh well this is all of our territory. If you walk along the hills we have scouter nests who watch and maintain our borders. I suggest for you to never walk so deep towards the borders if you ever choose to take walks. As much as we have scouts there you never know who can be passing by." he says to me concerned

"Okay I will keep that in mind. Can we go back to the stream? I want to check something out." I ask him

"Yes of course." he says and leads me to it

"First I need to make a map of this place and then I want to try out my net and fishing pole." I say out loud

"Map, net and fishing pole?" he asks

Oh they must not have any of these yet. Maybe it's time we add them and I can show everyone how to navigate with a map and use a fishing pole and net.

"A map is where we can locate areas of importance. That way it can guide us to where we need to go or where we are at. How do you guys know when and where you are?" I ask him

"We use the sun in the daytime and the moon and stars at night. How do you make this map?" he says to me.

I look around and check to see if I can rip a portion of the tree trunk off the tree and he nods with agreement. I use the mud and a stick as ink and pen. He watches me draw a map of their territory and is amazed. I see his eyes sparkling in admiration. This is the best I can do for now.

"Would you like me to teach you?" I ask him

"Yes, please if you could." he asks excitingly
