Trust

Violet's POV

I teach him how to make the map and realize he's a pretty good artist himself. He picked up that fast and was able to duplicate another map.

"I will make 3 more of these another time so that mom and chief will have one and a few of the scouts too." he says to me happily

"That would be very good for everyone else and convenient." I say back smiling

"Oh! Why did you want to come back to the stream?" he asks

" I almost forgot! I wanted to try these out." I say to him while pulling the net and fishing pole out

"What are those for?" he asks me

"How do you guys catch fish here?" I ask him

"If we were able to catch fish we would try but they are too fast and don't taste as appetizing as we thought when we do catch them." he says to me disgusted

"You guys don't eat fish? What do you guys eat?' I ask concerned

"Oh the normal; slugs, bugs, worms, sometimes juicy beetles if we can find them in season." he says to me pleased

Puke! Yeah I may try some but I won't just eat them religiously. Birds at home all know how to catch fish very well. I wonder why these bird beasts can't? I look and see Jee staring at me curiously. Oh right! The net and fishing pole. I scan the stream and check where it meets the river.

"Let's go walk towards the crossing part where the stream and river meet." I say to him

I gather rocks and circle them around the opening part of the entrance of the stream. He watches and follows me. The stream entrance is pretty big so we do a small outlet circle big enough for the net. I place the net at the end of the circle structure and we finish the mini drought by adding a little wall moving towards the river.

"Once the overflow of water comes in the fish will follow the flow of water into the bank of the circle structure we made. Since we have a wall up the fish will gradually fill up the net. Tomorrow morning we can check to see if we caught any." I said to him happily. I will skip dinner tonight for some fish tomorrow.

"But once you catch the fish it will taste bad. How do you make it taste better?" he asks

"I have to check what type of fish is here, but you can eat fish raw, over fire, baked and even dried. There is so much you can do with fish." I tell him

"Fire? Let's see how you make it. I am excited to learn and taste what you've explained to me." he says satisfied

"Fire is what is used to cook the fish or any type of food. I can actually show you how to get the fish." I say

"I want to know how to do this fire. And how can you show me?" he asks

"This is a fishing pole. It's made with a stick, string and hook. You use the hook to catch the fish and the string to pull it. The longer the string and pole the further the cast can go out. Watch and see." I say to him while throwing the cast out.

I mean it's not any fancy fishing pole. It's literally a stick, a long vine and some type of bone as the hook. Oh bait! I need to find bait.

"How come you didn't throw it out yet?" he asks

"I need to find something that the fishes like. Do you have any idea of what they might like to eat?" I ask Jee

I see him nod and he starts to fly to the top of the tree. He brings down something that looks like a coconut and gives it to me. I crack it on the ground with some rocks and it opens up.

"Yes this is definitely something close to a coconut." I say excitingly

I see Jee run up towards me with haste

"You never need to do such labor. Next time you do something like this, let me do it." he says aggressively

"Did I do something wrong?" I ask him

"Not wrong, you just don't need to do it. It's my job. Well it's your husbands job or partner." he says back blushing

"Oh! I usually do this kind of thing on my own." I whisper and didn't realize he heard

"On your own? Where you lived before does not know how much it is to cherish a female. Here you will never need to do any of that. If you want I will do all of this for you." he says back shyly

"Alright you win! I will let you do this all since you are so convincing." I say to him and pat him on the head

He is so cute. He blushes at everything I say. He hits pieces of the coconut and finds a way to add it to the hook. He's pretty good at stuff like this even if it's foreign to him.

"Thank you. Adding this will bait the fish to come to the hook. Once they bite on the hook they will get caught on the hook and we can pull them up and catch them. I need something to hold the fish in though." I say while trying to look around for a bowl or something. Shoots! They wouldn't have a bowl or basket here. I will need to make one soon.

"Here." Jee points to

He dug a huge hole in the ground. Big enough to maybe have 4-5 fish in there.

"Thanks." I say to him

I start walking towards a spot where I see a lot of activity. I throw the vine in there and start to wait.

"What next?" he asks excitedly

"We wait. It can usually take a few minutes to hours for us to catch a fish. So we must wait. Maybe we can make more of these?" I ask him

"Yes if you want I can help with that and maybe we can do these at my house?" he asks shyly

I am terrified to go back there since it is too high. He sees my response and looks back at me sadly

"It's not that I don't want to go back there, it's more that I am scared of heights. Well more the drop from the mountain. Maybe we can stay at one of the tree-houses?" I ask him

"We? Oh and the tree-house? I can have that arranged." he says to me and whistles

I see 3 other winged beasts come to him and they nod and leave

"They have started the process so don't worry we will have our tree-house ready by dinner." he says back shyly

System: "You have earned trust from your first potential husband. Here is your reward."

It's a weaved basket. I should have known. I know how to make this already. I am glad the system reminded me of simple things like this. This will help us bring the fish back. We can make more in the future.

"Can you watch this line for me while I go check something out?" I ask him

"Do you want to leave somewhere?" he asks nervously

"Don't worry, this place is safe right? I won't go further out past the scouts. If you see the pole move, pull it up." I suggest to him

"But what if you run into danger or don't know how to find me." he asks nervously

This worry wart! I just need to leave for a few minutes and bring out the basket so he isn't suspicious of where I got it from. The pole I will have to figure out something about that too

"If I don't come back in 10 minutes, come find me. I won't go far trust me okay." I say to him and pat his head

I feel him snuggle into me and it feels comforting. I start walking to find a hiding place and he watches me till i'm no longer in sight. Phew! Now I can bring this out. It's big enough to bring maybe 10 fishes back! I can't wait! I also lucked out since I found the trees and vines similar to this basket so I can come back here to make more. I walk back towards the little stream and realize we can actually make this into a pond for catching fish. It's not too small where we would close off the running water further down and it's not so big where the nets would be lost.

"You're back! I was so worried." he says back to me running up and giving me a huge hug

Geez this guy. It's like he thought I would not come back at all. Seriously maybe 5-7 minutes I was gone. I see him smiling. He must really start trusting me since he looked scared I wouldn't come back.

"Look I made something to help." I say to him

He walks up to me and grabs the basket and looks at it observantly.

"This is a basket I made with the vines and trees from over there." I say to him pointing to where I walked from

"Do you maybe want to sleep in it? It doesn't look too comfortable as a nest." he says back to me awkwardly

"No no. We can bring the fish back in here and take it to the tree-house." I say back to him

"Wow! I never would have thought of something like this. When we hunt we bring things back with our feet or wings. This would help out so much. It would actually improve with time too. It takes us days to gather just from places not too far from us. Now with this it can literally half up the time." he says back excitingly
