Violet's POV
"What's everyone doing?" Jee asks walking in
I see 4 bags of feathers?
"I brought the gang to come meet Violet." Jan says back to Jee
"She's a keeper, Jee! You are so lucky!" Luke says back to Jee winking
He starts blushing and brings the bags of feathers to me.
"Wow, these are beautiful. Where are they from?" I ask Jee and he starts blushing again
"My feathers. We keep them till we meet our mates and give them to them. This is the best I could do when you asked for something like clothes." he says to me
"I can do a lot with this. Thank you." I say back to him happy
"You hear that Jee? She said she can do a lot with that hmmm." Jan says teasingly
"You boys be quiet! Anyways you guys came here to try some fish right?" Jee asks
"Jan said that you guys caught some fish and said it tasted good. We want to know if it's true!" Luke says
"Let me get some for you." I say to the boys
"I'll do it. I would never let you serve anyone else!" Jee says aggressively and sprints to get the fish meat
"Fine, fine. I want to start a fire Jee. Can I make one outside?" I ask him
"Fire, fire? What is that?" I hear all the boys scream in excitement
"Violet knows how to maintain little suns. I've seen it with my own eyes. That is why I chose this place so we can experiment away from everyone." Jee says nervously squinting at me
"You think I will burn everything down?" I say upset
"No it's not that. It's more like if everyone notices they will want your attention more." he says embarrassingly
Why would he care? I am not going anywhere
"I am not going anywhere Jee. I will start the fire and you can give the boys some of the fish." I say to him and walk outside
"Jee, you are so awkward with her! Stop being like that we know she likes you." I hear one of the boys scolding Jee when I walk out.
I wonder why he has such low self esteem. He's really smart and handsome. Alright I start by using the wood and twigs that Jee gathered a while back and place stones around it. I was able to find a spot a few feet away from the hut where there are no branches above us. I start the fire with the sparks and wait.
He already de-spiked the fish so I wrap the fish in some leaves and place them over the low heat of the twigs since it's a small fire. They should start to bake after some time. Later on they will be good. I'll have to teach him how to de-bone and clean the fish since I did it last time. It's a bit too complicated for him to try now.
"Violet the fish was soo good!" Luke says to me impressed
"How did you do that?" Jan asks
"I will teach your fathers soon." Jan says to the boys
"Fathers?" I ask Jan
"Oh right! Carl and Luke have the same father and Jan and Peter have the same father." Jee says back to me
I would have never guessed! They all look identical.
"Nice! I made a fire. We use this to cook the fish. Jee says you guys don't use fire so I showed him how to make it." I say back to the boys
"Wow, it's pretty warm." Peter says
"Yes it can also keep you warm and provide light as well at night time." I say back to them
"Whoa! That would help Grand Chief at night time and all the moms too!" Carl says impressed
"How do you guys see at night?" I ask Jee
"Females can't see at night so they stay at home while males leave to hunt at night." Jee says back to me
"I thought it was a rumor but I guess I was wrong! You are able to control mini suns." Jee's mom says while flying up towards our tree-house entrance
"Yes it is true Grand Chief" the boys yell
"The scouts sent an alarm to me about seeing little suns around this area. And I overheard the boys just now talking about it so I was curious. This is fascinating Violet! How do you maintain it and how do you start and stop it?" She says to me
"I can show everyone how. Right now we can't turn it off or start it since Violet is cooking something. I don't want to mess the process up." says Jee
"Cooking? What are you cooking?" She asks
"Fish! Of all things fish! And it's delicious, Grand Chief, you should try some!" Jan yells
"Coming from someone like you Jan, I bet it's good. May I have some?" She asks me
"Of course." I say back to her
Jee leaves to get more in the house and gives her a try. Of course she loves it. It's something new to them and it's fried so that's always better than raw.
"How were you able to catch and cook it?" She asks
"I will teach everyone that too, mother." Jee says back to her with authority
"So you have learned the ways, Jee. I am proud of you. We can surely use this for tonight then, what do you think?" she asks me
"I wish we had enough but we won't. Tomorrow we can check the net and see if our trap worked!" I say back excitingly
"That sounds very nice. Thank you for teaching Jee this. He is such a good learner and is very smart. He will definitely improve all these new things you have taught them for the better." she says proudly
Sounds like Jee is very sheltered for some reason. I will figure it out soon.
"It's getting late and the bigger sun will be coming down soon. I can start a bigger fire by the chiefs circle and teach the males how to make them. Every male needs to know how to make them safely there first before trying anywhere else. That way the little suns won't spread and cause trouble in the fields." Jee says
"Wait! Jee, would you like me to teach them how to make the baskets? That way we can fill them up with water next to the fires. If anything they can throw the water on the fires if it looks like it may spread or if it is out of control." I say back to Jee concerned
"You've already done so much today. Are you sure you haven't had enough?" he asks concerned
"I am fine. This gives me something to do. And plus I need you to finish fast so you can help me with something back home." I say to him
I need a bath or something for a bath and where to go for the bathroom. Plus these clothes are also going to be a project for me.
"Jan she says she needs you to come home!" the boys yell at him winking
Ha ha they are so funny. I didn't even think of that. I was just thinking of how to get by tonight hygiene wise.
"That's fine Violet, he won't be there for long. We won't keep him behind. Can you teach a few of the other men how to do the baskets you were talking about earlier?" she asks
"Yes of course!" I say to her
"Why should she?" Jee says aggressively
"You don't know how, so I must. How about I teach them where you are?" I say to him
He looks pleased and nods.
"That's fine, let's do that. Is what you are cooking done?" he asks curiously
"Yes it should be. Can you help me take it out?" I ask Jee
He goes towards the fire and uses two logs to take them out. He already stated the process of tongs. Very smart indeed he is.
"Where should I put it?" he asks
"On the coconut bowl" I say back to him
I go towards the bowl and use the twig to remove the leaves from the fish. Of course I see Jee flinch but he needs to know I will be fine. I wash a few leaves and use them as plates and place some fish in each one and give one to each person.
"This is extraordinary, Violet! Truly it is!" she says to me
"Thank you. I have other ideas to try too but for now this will do." I say back to her
"Thank you for letting us try this. I know that we will all benefit from this." she smiles at me
"Since we have plans after, let's go over and teach everyone what we know now. That way we can finish up what we need here at home before we celebrate." Jee says to me and waits for me to go down the ladder
"Okay! Can you bring a few of the things we gathered? We can also bring whatever fish we have left." I say to Jee
"No way! That's your fish. You don't need to share the rest with others." Jee says back to me
"It's okay Jee, I want to share it with who I can so that we can teach them tomorrow how to do all of this." I say back to him
"Okay if you want we can. I will help too." he says back to me
