Trades

"Jee, let's go back to the tree-house. I want to stop there to get a few baskets and then leave to go check on the traps." i say back to him excitingly

"I want to go too, please let me see it." Clarise says excitedly as well to us

"Us too us too!" We hear the boys running right behind us

"Okay we can all go together." Jee says to them and we start walking back

"Violet, I want you to meet Elliot. Elliot, this is Violet." Clarise says to me

"Hello Elliot. Nice to meet you." I say back to him and give him a handshake

"Nice to meet you as well. Clarise talks about you all day and night. I am glad she has found someone she likes. She is a bit picky when it comes to friend making." he says back at her teasingly

They are very cute together. It looks like he is her main husband. We get to the stream and everyone is in awe. It looks like the traps worked really well.

"Violet, how do we make this and how do we get the fish?" Elliot asks

"Jee come help me with this please?" I ask Jee

"Already ahead of you. I brought all the baskets too." he says back to me

"Great! So we will just need to go to the end of the ditch and collect all the fish. We can pull the net in and throw the fish inside of it in the baskets. In one basket will have the fish and the other basket will have the debris from the nets." I say to them

"So the one with the fish in them now let's grab a fish and then wash it then place it in the other basket." Jee delegates to the boys

He's very impressive when he plays the Raven Prince role. Jee shows them all how to make more nets and they go to different areas of the stream to place the ditches and set the nets.

"Elliot is loving this. He always loves to find and do new things. If he could stay at home and invent things all day he would. When I told him about what you were doing instead of him going to gather this morning he decided to stay behind with me. I know he's glad that he stayed. He is way more excited than I am. And now he will be able to do this on his own. He will find a way to make this easier for me too." she says confidently

"You like to do this stuff too?" I ask her

"Do I! I get so bored at home and I am never one to just sit back and lounge. That's why I was really upset that they wanted to take away fire from us. I was experimenting with some of the herbs we have and fruit. When I heard they were trying to take the fire away I was already going to protest." she says back determined

"There is so much more that we could do with fire and cooking I will show you." I say back to her confidently

"Really? I can't wait." She says back to me smiling

"We can make desserts, jams and fruits. You said that the other men went to trade, how does that process go?" I ask her

"They leave for a few weeks since it takes some time to get to the next city. We are located at the peak of Genn. They have traveled up the stream to the lake connector of Elly. All of the other cities like to go there since it is neutral ground. No other cities will cause trouble because if they do they won't be allowed to trade there." she says back to me

"And we just trade coconuts? Is that enough?" I ask her concerned

"On this side of the mountain they only grow on the top and only winged beasts can fetch them so the price is worth it. The best part about them is they are not as heavy compared to other fruits. So we make due with that. We are lucky we found those fruits here. Without them we won't be able to trade much with the other fruits we found here."she says to me

"Interesting. I wonder if we can make new things to add to the trading list. I have a few ideas that may help. We can try them out another time. Looks like the guys are done setting the traps. Want to come over and I can show you how to make fish soup?" I ask Clarise

"Fish soup? Is it hot or cold?" she asks a bit concerned

"Hot. I can show you how to make it and you can make it tonight at home for your family. They will love it!" I say back to her happily

"Thank you so much Violet. I am so glad I get to learn how to do something. I started to make more baskets as well so that all my males have one. It's so much easier for them to carry everything back in one go instead of multiple trips." she says back to me happy

"Jee, how would we make a water holder to hold a large amount of water?" Elliot asks

"I was thinking of maybe suggesting to use the coconut skins. They should hold if we use a lot of them to reinforce it. We can try a few smaller ones and then make bigger ones as we experiment. Want to help out Elliot?" Jee asks

"Sure. I was thinking of using the vines and maybe some clay to help hold the coconut like glue. Maybe that could work?" he asks Jee

"Did you say clay?" I ask Elliot

"Yes. Lower down on the other side of the mountain there is a grassy area that has a ton of shade. If you go towards the entrance of a smaller cave there is a lot of mud. When it hardens it can turn into clay!" he tells me

"Jee we can make a lot of things with clay and heat. Can we please go there some time today? I want to check it out." I ask excitingly

"Sure. Elliot and I will go gather a bunch of coconuts with the boys after we drop you and Clarise at our home, what do you think?" he asks me

"That sounds great. I can show her a few more things on how to cook with the fruit too." I say happy

"We can stop by the fields before we head back then." he says as they haul the fish and we head back towards home
