Rein moved his waist and stretched his body to see if he was ready to continue his journey. He looked left and right, then tilted his head up and down, "Minus 70 degrees Celsius is no joke!" This was his first experience dealing with such low temperatures.
Once he had acclimated, Rein decided to check on his quest, "Open Special Quest: Find the Lord!"
[ "Find the Lord"
Grade: A
The Lord is our last hope in this place. He has been missing for two days. He was last seen heading north of the hill, but he never returned. We fear that he may have gotten lost or been injured. Can you help us bring the Lord back?
Footnotes: Do not fly!
Rewards: Unknown, Ancestors' gratitude.
Fail: Triangle Oath sect threat on Crossof (increased by 100%) ]
"If I fail...who is the Triangle Oath sect? I've never heard of them. The community never talks about them." Rein was confused. He knew of some villainous organizations that existed in the VRMMORPG Crossof Realm, but the Triangle Oath was something new to his knowledge. He decided not to think about it now and to do some more research and ask Kiara.
"She may know about this. The Quest grade is A, and she once told me about her doing grade A Quests. Maybe the Triangle Oath sect is linked to that. But let's focus on the small things first." Rein then said, "Open, Map!"
The map screen opened, and there was another circle marker flickering with gold light. Rein investigated and discovered that it pointed to the place he had previously wanted to go, it was the Nine-Tailed Beast's location.
An informational screen displaying the place names appeared after he pointed at the symbol.
[ Shrine ]
"So this is the Lord's place? And the hill where the Nine-Tailed creature was summoned? Interesting."
As the quest suggested walking rather than flying, Rein quickly continued his journey on foot, walking leisurely and cautiously, for fear of encountering a beast he couldn't fight at the moment.
Beasts exist everywhere, including the Training Zone. They might not be hard to kill, as they include Low-Level Beasts such as Slimes and Rabbits, as well as Mid-Level Beasts summoned in the Training Zone to prepare players for the main world of Crossof Realm. Low-Level Beasts are not necessarily low in level but rather have simple methods of dealing with them.
However, if the Beast is an air-type, like an Eagle or Crow, the player needs a bow or crossbow and accuracy to shoot an arrow that will cause damage. This can be difficult, so these Beasts are considered Mid-Level.
Rein looked left and right, his head constantly moving as he walked through the bushes, "There's no walking path here..." Rein stopped after a few steps to avoid catching anything that might harm him. "Level 0 in the unknown forest."
Rein enters his boundless suspicion mode, a power of the subconscious that kept him at the pinnacle of his performance when playing VRFPS. He hadn't used it in a year, but now it came back to him, he kept his mouth shut and focused only on his senses of hearing and sight.
'There's no trace of life here. Are the beasts moving through the air? Or am I in the uninhabitable territory? I don't know their habits. The fact that I can't fight them even in a one-on-one situation within my level is scary.'
'I mean, if the Nine-Tailed exists here, the beasts are supposed to be on a high level, right?'
After walking through many trees and bushes, Rein finds himself more than a hundred meters away from the tree that had injured him. Despite his ongoing suspicions and fear of this place, he continues to examine the Exclusive Zone Map, on which he sees that his location is just a few dozen meters away from the Shrine.
However, there was only one thing that he was very afraid of...
'I'm doing this for my life as Successor! So if the Mythical Creature Nine-Tailed exists in the Shrine, please leave me alone so I can finish the Quest and continue my journey. I mean, I want the rewards!'
'Indeed! Ancestors' gratitude is a superpower! Just look at my face! People say I'm handsome and charismatic, yet it's all because of my grandfather's grandfather! That's the true power of lineage from ancestors!'
At every opportunity in his life as a professional player, many people praise him only for his appearance as human, but he never accepts anyone saying praise about his appearance except for the sake of the ancestors of the Alpetrichor family.
Rein had been making his way through the dense forest, using his strong feet and hands to jump over any obstacles in his path, "After that!" he said as he easily jumped over a 4-meter tree root that had been blocking his way.
As he continued walking, Rein was struck by the sight of trees with white leaves, a color that he had not seen before when flying in the air, and that did not exist in his memory of the Exclusive Zone. It was a new color in his mind.
"I knew they could change whatever they want, but why did they choose to do this to me?" Rein couldn't understand why the system would change the existence of objects in the Crossof Realm.
He looked at the map to check if something was wrong, "Am I going the wrong way?" But after confirming that he was on the right path, Rein still couldn't understand how he could have missed hundreds of white-leaved trees that he was now staring at.
"Am I blind? How did I not recognize these trees at all?" Rein approached one of them.
Despite his confusion, a word suddenly popped into his head, "Cherry blossoms! Yeah... but it's not spring yet... how could they?" Rein approached the tree, he wanted to touch the cherry blossom branch, but when he almost touched them, the Suvice system appeared.
—PING!
[ (!) You're not allowed to use any mounts or certain skills in this area, including Fly ]
"The Quest footnote informed me about this before—but!" his brain was already thinking about something that didn't need to be done, "FLY!"
[ (!) Skill Fly cannot be used ]
"Hiishhh..." Rein hissed like a snake at that fact, he was just so curious.
After learning that, Rein walked far away from the area where the cherry blossoms grew and tried to do something that was forbidden there—again.
"Fly!" he flew, "Wow, HOW?!" The skill was usable, and Rein even tried to fly into the clouds. After that, he went back and adjusted his flight to hover about three meters above the ground, and sure enough...
[ (!) You're not allowed to use any mounts or certain skills in this area, including Fly ]
BUMP!
[ Health (-10) ]
He was too weak, the forest even teasing him by repeating the sound of his fall. Rein instantly fell to the ground, right after the warnings appeared. It was the right decision for him not to fly too high.
"Well, that hurts—but! This hill must be one of those places that were once revered, such a nonsensical place that can control universe laws."
—DING!
Rein knew that something positive was going to happen after hearing that sound.
[ You've gained the Skill: Eagle Eyes ]
[ You've just discovered Sakuya Hill, a relic of the Sakuya Clan ]
[ You've obtained the Scroll of Sakuya Hill ]
"My people..." Rein said, remembering he was one of the Sakuya, but he get so emotional about getting this on Level 0 that he began to get angry about too much luck he have....
"THIS IS BAD! REALLY BAD OMEN!"
