Chapter 20: Eva Apologizes

Tim laid down his book and looked at the clock next to his nightstand when he heard someone knocking on his door. As comfortable as he was in bed, the curiosity to see who it was didn’t motivate him enough to move.

When the knocking became more insistent, Tim threw off the covers, swung his feet over the bed and slipped into his loafers as he stood up. Pulling on his robe, he muttered, “That better not be you, Thane. You can sleep outside for all I care.”

Thinking it was the temporary heart throb of Caribou Falls, he took his time going down the stairs. He even took some time to straighten some of the pictures hanging on the walls on either side of the staircase.

When Tim made it to the front of the store, he froze on seeing who it was through the glass door.

Eva threw up her hands and shouted something, though he couldn’t make out what it was. Going to the door, he unlocked it and eyed her suspiciously as he let her in.
