Medium

The fifth step is the medium.

[Theatre Script]: Writing a fanfic like it is a script for theatre activities such as:

Boy: "Who are you?" Girl: "Who are YOU!?"

Without any kind of attempt at separating and distinguishing them and putting who is at the front of each speech is highly unpopular, and used by newbie authors who either lack the skill to do basic speech interactions and back and forth between characters or are simply lazy creators. If you still struggle with said and want to go right to writing, that's fine. Warn the readers of why though, it might frustrate some of them, especially if you had a nice idea going on for your fanfic.

Avoiding script form is a good idea. (deviantart)

Script form is good for crack that's meant to be used as a cheap laugh, and not taken seriously anyway. If you want people to take your fic seriously, try writing in the normal story form. It's much easier to read and makes you seem a lot less lazy.

[Second Person]: Writing a fanfic in the second person is essentially making your reader the main character, such as:

"You are running through the forests, wolves chasing you, you start to feel…"

It's more common to see this in shorter fanfics, and don't usually go well with longer and more complex fanfics.

[Narrative]: The most used style of all fanfics that uses the first and third person. Good for all situations and more friendly to readers overall due to most of the best fanfics being in this format.

A good reminder for some authors and creators is to not use tab to make paragraphs have that blank space at the start of each of them. Not because it's wrong, but because the crushing majority doesn't use it, to a point it kinda irritates the readers when they see one. It's almost alien in a sense, and since it can be solved by doing less work, not pressing tab, is a good tip for what not to do.
