Posting

The sixth step is where to post.

Research which website you want to expose your work to. Each of them has different interfaces, tools for authors, varying degrees of reader interactions, and the type of people that makes their community with distinguished likes and dislikes.

Use the tvtropes title search at the disclaimer to see some of the fanfic websites and their unique peculiarities. I would put it here but I'm pretty sure there is censorship for simply using their name.

Another thing is to avoid overexposure. (DeviantArt)

It's perfectly fine to post your stories on one or two other websites to get them out there, but put a limit on it. You may have different followers on different sites, but you may have some of the same followers on different sites. Decide which groups of followers would like your story the best, and only post it there. A lot of people have accounts on many fanfiction sites so they're gonna get bored of your story if they see it on many sites like Deviantart, Fanfiction.net, Wattpad, Tumblr, and Archive of our own.
