Helena was dripping with sweat by the time she reached her goal, despite the fact that the Walmart Corporation Building was located only a few blocks away from City Hall. It was the first time she'd ever talked to the Governor. Not in the role of Helena Cummings, at any rate. And things were different when she was assuming the persona of Soul Sakura. In addition to putting on the outfit, she also put on some additional bravery. She develops a capability that only she and Jayden will be aware of.
Helena unlocked the front door while flashing a kind grin to the two security guards stationed on either side of the entrance. She wiped her sweaty palms on her khaki pants. She went through the metal detector and proceeded toward the information desk, where a woman with a nicely braided updo sat perfectly upright with her hands folded perfectly in front of her. She approached the woman.
"You've made it to Governor Hall! Welcome!" She greeted him with a peppy greeting that was followed by a broad grin. "How may I be of use to you?"
"So, you want to meet with the Governor, right?" Helena reprimanded herself for giving the impression that she was asking a question. "I suppose you could say that I'm here to see the Governor. I work for the Walmart Corporation Media division." She displayed her identification card to me.
"Walmart?" Ms. Anderson cast a cursory look at something that was sitting on her desk. "I'm sorry, but it looks like Governor Bill de Blasio won't be able to meet with you in the near future." Again, she smiled in an indulgent manner, but there was a flash of something across her face. Something that appeared to be guilt in many ways.
Helena took a close look at the woman. "Was he not available before I brought up the fact that I worked for that company?"
The relaxed smile became more strained. "Honey, is there anything else that I can assist you with, and if so, what is it?" Ms. Anderson reached into the drawer of her desk and removed a rolled-up stack of calendars from the drawer. "How about a calendar for all of the cities in the country?"
Does it contain a schedule of free dates for the Governor? Helena had a question to ask. Instead, she did what was expected of her and took the calendar before giving a courteous nod. "I appreciate you taking the time to respond."
Thank you very much. I hope you have a wonderful day! As Helena went away, Ms. Anderson let out a cheerful chirp.
Helena rolled up the calendar and tapped it against the palm of her hand as she exited the building. She was unable to return to Walmart because she had not yet conducted an interview with the Governor, and she was unable to conduct the interview with the Governor because, well... she was unaware of the reason why. She had a sneaking suspicion that it was somehow related to Walmart, even if the explanation wasn't clear. She took out her phone and sent Jordan a text, asking if he had any idea why the Governor was so against Walmart.
Almost immediately after she had submitted it, she was greeted with the message "Monkey King Mode."
Helena muttered an expletive under her breath. Having a friendship with another Celestial Hero might make day-to-day activities challenging at times. In the past, Celestial Wielders would fight crime at night, but as things have become more unstable and monitoring has shifted, this practice has been discontinued. But as a result of it, more problems emerge around the clock, which makes things more difficult for all of the consumers she is familiar with today.
Helena despised the thought that her two close friends were putting their lives in jeopardy, but she was powerless to stop them. As a result, she usually just prayed for the best and kept busy in order to avoid dwelling on the situation.
Like call her boyfriend, Jayden.
