Chapter 50

"So, what are your plans?" Chloe inquired.

"If I can hack into the Samuel Hector mainframe, I can get all the data they have on that gun, since you can bet your father isn't the only one pursuing it." Nell nodded as Robert said.

"Since I melted down the railgun, if Nichole acquires that gun before we figure out how to nullify its effect on our suits, she can potentially kill us." Nell stated.

"We should also see whether there's anything else that can get through the suits." Robert stated.

"Aside from the railgun and this gun, there is one thing I know of that can penetrate the suit." Chloe stated.

"What is it?" Nell inquired.

"Robert's father created the suit's nanites to be resistant to practically every element on the planet. However, there is one that can go through it." Chloe stated.

"All OK, but what exactly is it?" Nell inquired.

"Alienware is a bright white rock. It makes sense given that it is the only element on the planet capable of harming the Digital Gods." Chloe stated.

"However, Nichole might be able to get their hands on it?" Nell inquired, despite the fact that he already knew the answer.

"Unlikely. According to my father, every Alienware location is heavily protected and nearly hard to breach without inside assistance.

Besides, neither of them is aware of the existence of Alienware or that it is capable of piercing the Owl suit, so we should concentrate on the Samuel Hector cannon." " Chloe stated.

"I also believe we may be able to leverage Jacob's actions to our advantage." Nell stated.

"What do you mean?" Robert inquired.

"Since my father looks to be diverting the Vulture's funding and resources toward bringing us down, perhaps Chloe Industries should start assisting the M.R.C.D in truly protecting the city by providing funding, new equipment, and other resources to help them safeguard the city." Helena stated.

"That's not a horrible concept." Nell spoke forward, and Robert nodded.

"So, getting back to the gun, how are we going to get our hands on it?" Helena inquired.

"We won't be able to steal the gun without drawing suspicion. But, Robert, do you believe you'll be able to access all of the Data Files on Samuel Hector's system if we give you access to his system?" Nell inquired.

"I should be able to do it. Why?" Robert inquired.

"I'm confident that all of the information we'll want is contained in Samuel Hector's system." Nell stated.

"He is correct. The system would store all of the technical information about that gun, which we would then use to devise a way to render it ineffective against you." Robert stated.

"We can't go in because it's too dangerous. If Kid Owl or Badger is caught breaking into Samuel Hector's, it could be used against us for whatever reason." Chloe stated.

"So, what do you think?" Nell inquired.

"You've got a Vulture's friend, right? Caleb?" Chloe inquired.

"Yeah, why?" Nell inquired.

"Caleb still owes Kid Owl a favor for saving his life, so perhaps you could persuade him to utilize his Vulture clearance to obtain us that information. Not to mention, I believe he should be made aware of what his boss is doing, because any weapon capable of breaching the owl suit can cause significant damage and harm to a large number of innocent people, especially if mass-produced." Nell sighed as Chloe spoke.

"Okay, I'll speak with him. I only hope Caleb doesn't tell Jacob." Nell stated.

"I don't believe he will. Caleb's moral compass outweighs his loyalty. If you can convince him to listen to you, I believe he will not only aid us, but will also leave the Vulture's in disgust. Who knows, perhaps this will open the door for you to tell him the truth." Nell nodded as Robert spoke.

"I'm going to blow up and go talk to him." As he moved, Nell said.

Caleb was astonished when the lights did not turn on when he returned home that night. Before looking around, he swiftly grabbed his revolver.

"Exhibit yourself." Caleb ordered before relaxing when he saw Kid Owl descend down onto his balcony.

"You know, I could have just called." Caleb stated.

"A personal touch was essential." said Kid Owl.

"What exactly is it?" Caleb inquired.

"I'm calling it in because you owe me for saving your life." said Kid Owl.

"I had no idea you were that kind of hero." Caleb stated.

"Normally, I wouldn't be, but what I'm asking you to do is something I need to know you won't back out of." said Kid Owl.

"What exactly is it?" Sophie inquired as Kid Owl played her a recording of Jacob and Catherine's chat.

"Wait, so my boss is commissioning my ex-wife to construct a complete arsenal of owl killing weapons?" Caleb inquired.

"Yes, and while some of this is about my safety and Badger's safety, my major worry is that this outfit is impenetrable. Any weapon that may pass through it poses a threat not only to myself, but also to the broader people, especially if it is mass produced." Caleb couldn't dispute with what Kid Owl said.

"My employer has become obsessed with eliminating Kid Owl. He's even begun to lose sight of the search for Nichole and his other primary tasks. I've noticed it as well. What do you require of me?" Caleb inquired.

"I need you to use your Vulture clearance to obtain the gun's schematics and deliver them to me so that my team can deactivate it or defend ourselves from it." said Kid Owl.

Caleb argued with himself for a few moments before his moral compass prevailed.

"I'll do it, but I'm not sure I'll be able to stay a Vulture after that." Caleb stated.

"That's all right. I merely wanted you to be aware of what the man you worked for was up to." said Kid Owl.

"Thank you so much. After I finish this, I'll have a lot to think about." Caleb responded, and Kid Owl nodded before jumping from the balcony and swinging away with his grappling hook, leaving Caleb slightly uneasy about what he was going to do.

Kid Owl could only think to himself as he left, no matter how much the world changed. Caleb's kind and caring heart will remain for the good of the people and the globe.
