Work

"Haaaaa"

I breathed some air, it was refreshing.

Now I was in Crimson a strong zone, mainly known for having the best players of all time on game.

Players that were a resident in Crimson had very good titles and were strong. For example there is the player 'gorill4zzzz' his title was 'Tormenting Catastrophe' with his title activation he could either do a lot of damage to the mind or body to anyone, he left the game some time in the early 2100. There was also the player 'kemdragonn', she had the title 'Reaper of the light' if she activated her title you might of as well exited VR. She could destroy a small village without her activation, when she activated her ability she could destroy mountains, but those are only stuff I have heard sadly there is no actual proof. Supposedly after using her activation after 6 months she could use it back again and her activation would last only 20 seconds.

I want to be strong too my title is 'Three Eyed Demon, Hero', I know that people who have 'demon' on their title was either going to be weak or just be strong. It was 50/50 ,I hope its the latter. I don't know about 'Hero' though, I mean I have seen players with the word on their titles but I will do research on it later. For now lets just play.

Also when you get to a new zone you pay the fee at the border of each zone, so you can get in.

The zone got its name Crimson by defeating the strong boss that was guarding the place 'the golden dragon', after 4 days a meteor at lighting speed came and made a huge crater, it also killed about 100,000 players. The main theory that people think could be true is that ' Olius ' the boss of the game threw it at.

After walking for a while the zone was like any normal city in a MMORPG, people were wearing all kinds of armors, clothes, with all kinds of equipment. There were a lot of training centers too.

This just defeats 2 birds in one stone. Now I have work but I also can go to any nearby training center to learn and use the training grounds freely to practice.

Firstly I needed to learn a basic fighting style. I am more leaning to using a sword fighting style but also one without weapons too, so I could use my own body as a weapon in unexpected situations, when I don't have mana, don't have my sword...

I could also see near the border the flags of Crimson, which were in red and had 7 stars up colored in white, and a golden dragon in the middle.

The 57stars represent the 7 legendary players that defeated the dragon and got ahold of Crimson, the dragon in the middle as one can guess represents the golden dragon that was defeated.

After walking about what seemed forever, I finally arrived at the destination of the bookstore.

Up I could see a big sign, 'Juju's Books' was the name of the bookstore. Strange, the windows were covered with papers.

jingle*

jingle*

I entered.

Inside the bookstore was a square long room with shelves all around. In the centre of the book store there was a big round checkout counter.

There were boxes everywhere and I could see a woman putting thee books on the shelves one by one.

She was not near the entrance and I assumed that she didn't hear the bells jingle judging from how far she was.

"Um, hello I am the new employee that accepted your request for the job"

"huh?"

"Ah yes, sorry I didn't notice you. I'll be right there just wait a little bit"

She looked older than me but still looked young ,her curly dark purple hair with her matching sapphire eyes made her look beautiful. She was tall and had a good figure. Her voice was very, very comforting.

But you can't say that anyone is beautiful in a game. Especially VR, people almost all the time get blinded and think that the players look like that IRL too.

After a couple minutes, she approached me while holding three boxes on her hands.

poof*

She put the boxes on a table near by and little I saw little dust clouds.

"So you are the new employee huh ? My name is 'venom00gurl' just call me Juju"

"I'm 'seventy7' just call me '7'."

I don't like to give names I stick with my username all the time.

"Well as you can see I'm very busy here right now, could you help me out?"

"But of course, that is why I came here for"

"Sorry for welcoming you like this, could you please take this box and go to those shelves right there and arrange the books and put them there by this order"

She then handed me the 3 boxes with a paper. In the paper were books which told in which row to leave them how to put them in order.

I started putting them one by one. The shelves were simple wooden shelves but very nice unlike the table which was with dust and other furniture, the shelves were all cleaned, they basically were shining.

...

"Coffee break?"

"Hahh!"

I got scared like a kid, it was embarrassing.

"Oh sorry"

"No, no its fine I was just too focused. Yea I would like that"

"I know a very good coffee shop, lets go"

Lock*

She locked the bookstore.

"So, do you have any work experience or is it your first time?"

"Yea my first time working"

"I would like to talk about work more deeply, but we can talk better at the coffee shop"

"Yea that would be better"

"You don't need to be tense around me or anything, you can relax"

"Yea thanks..."

Bro what? I'm not tense around her or anything, am I? Well I don't know, so I just replied to her with 'Yea thanks'

"Well this is it"

The coffee shop was like any other coffee shop it was called 'Fisters Coffee'.

In most fantastic games coffee didn't really exist, but it was different in Zenodox, the technology is advancing slowly and there are scientists in here too like in IRL.

We sat down outside and the waiter came.

"Hey Juju, the usual?"

"Yep, and bring a menu for him"

"Okay, be right back"

Then he went inside.

"Now that we sat down, my name is Juju and I am the owner of the bookstore as you can guess and you are lucky to be my first employee, potentially even a manager."

"Yea we met earlier but you can just call me 7. And thanks I really indeed am lucky to be the first employee of your bookstore. But why did you choose me though?"

"Well to be honest you looked promising because of your luck stat. I thought you could maybe bring customers easily in the bookstore. Don't worry about not having any experience with books or anything I'll give you a list later on that you need to memorize the main things, and of course I'll teach you myself"

That makes sense as why she didn't even need me to have any experience with books or anything like that, she just wanted me for my luck stat. Yea with my luck stat I could probably maybe sell and work with customers smoothly.

"Yea that works. Sorry but can I ask you for something selfish?"

"Yea go ahead"

"About the payment, could you pay me 2 weeks half the pay and the 2 other weeks the other half payment. I'm sorry for asking you this though, I'll needed for these first 2 months"

"Hmm... okay, why not. But can you tell me why you need the payment like this or is it personal?"

"Well I'm new to the game so I want to be able to train as fast as possible so I can complete my quests. I also want to me ready for the main quest."

The main quest was a quest that was given once a month to every player. If you don't complete your other quests that's fine but if you don't complete the main quest you will be heavily penalized. The main quest will depend on the player too. For example, Juju if she was given a main quest it would be something related to her job, books, and also as a seller. That's how it works.

The game doesn't force players to play to complete it you could also play it for other purposes too. There doesn't exist a stat that tells you your job or what you do but the game does know.

"Yea that makes sense. Well okay I don't mind"

"Thank you so much!"

"It's fine don't worry about it"

She really was very nice. I really like my new boss she seems to be chill and I am very thankful that it wasn't some guy in his 40s that would tell me wrong on every little thing I did wrong and work me to death.

"Here you are your Ice Latte and the menu"

"Thanks"

"Can I get a strawberry juice"

"Sure thing"

I wasn't really a coffee guy, I have a lot of mood swings with foods and drinks.

"No coffee?"

"Yea strawberry juice is fine"

"Okay"

"So, when did you start playing the game?"

"Actually just today"

"Hmm today?"

"Yea"

"You looked rather a bit more experienced knowing how you generally know what the main quests are other details about the game too"

"Oh I'm just a huge fan of the game that's all"

Not a huge fan of the game no, I'm an addict of the game, I really don't like to call my self an addict of the game but lets be real I have been watching countless videos, reading news, and kept my self updated for 4 years now.

"Well never mind that. For now lets talk about work. Firstly as you saw back at the bookstore it was being prepared to be opened, actually I just relocated here. For about 3 days you are just going to help me move boxes put books in order of the lists I give you and that's about it. After we finish setting up the bookstore, when we do the opening of the bookstore you will be at the entrance waiting there, then I will te-"

"Wait why at the entrance?"

"Because of your luck stat of course If you stay near the entrance I bet that 5-10% of people passing will come in."

"Oh, that makes sense that's easy, so after the opening day I can actually work for real"

"Well that's the thing, you wont, you will always be around or near the entrance for a while and after you get enough knowledge on how business works then you will be able to be like any other normal employee. For now you just stick there so people come in"

That was fine with me I mean staying for 4 hours or so near the entrance just doing mostly nothing but greeting and getting paid. That was easy money.

And it made sense I was a complete beginner at the game let alone about books.

"Also another employee I hired will be coming here, in about 2 in game days or so"

2 in game days are 1 IRL day. The seconds were still the same and all but the time is wider in this world. I don't really know why and how it works. But I will check that out later too I wanted to see why and how it worked a lot of times but was mostly interested in the game so didn't really bother until now.

"Here you are, one straw berry juice"

"Thank you"

"No problem"

We stayed a little more, mostly talking about books and giving me advice on what to do in some situations if something happens with the customers, if they are not happy or refunds...

"So yea be sure to do that"

"You got it mam"

"Yea no, please stick with Juju"

Well that was awkward as hell

"Yes"

"It's not that I dislike it or anything but I'm still 23 so don't really think that there is big enough age gap for you to call me mam, that's why"

"Yes I agree"

She was right kind of. She was still my boss though mam isn't only used for people that are old, it's used for people who also are respectable and have power.

I guess she just wanted for me to be much more open to her and feel normal than having a strict boss-employee relationship.

She truly was a very kind and comforting woman.

After that, she paid for the drinks I thanked Juju and we made our way back to the bookstore.
