Silver Ranked - Part 1

"Thanks for the help." Saft shakes my hand.

"No problem, we will part here. How about the guarding job back?" I asked.

"As usual we will hire a group of adventurers after we sell all the stuff from the village. We will be staying for a week long, so drop by the Inn if you want."

I nod. There is a lot of stuff in the wagon and I believe it will be long before they could all sell the products.

"Brother Cory, sister Aura. Please receive this."

Grish gives us both a short knife with a beautiful emblem sculpted on the handle's surface.

Aura inspected the knife, the luster green of the wood sparkled when the sunlight hit it.

"It's not sharp, but the emblem is important. It's father's knife gifted from the mercenary. Father said to give these to both of you. If you need help, you can show them to the Relinct mercenary and said father's name, and they will help you."

"Thanks, I will accept this." Aura smiled.

"Don't forget about us."

We parted ways. They are heading to the market to set up a stall.

We have already reached Krim. It is bigger than Kanakan Village. The road is stone-paved and wider, not so smooth but at least not muddy. The house looks better too, not a lot of wind can slip inside.

The two town guards stopped us because we had brought three bandits tightened with a rope with us. Saft and Grish explained the accident to them. The guard's leader, at first, looked exhausted because someone disturbed his rest. But then his face was fully awakened when he saw the face of the bandit leader.

"Isn't that the famous bandit Horst?!"

"That's what I said to you commander." Now the other guards looks exhausted when he explained to him.

We actually, should pay 5 copper coins for the temporary day's tag to go inside the town. But the head guard gives us a letter instead, telling us to go to the Krim's adventurer guild to get identification.

" I decided, I want to be an adventurer," Aura said to me. "This will help me to disguise myself before I decide what to do next."

Aura then looked at me with hesitation. "Sir Cory, what will you do after this? You already helped me a lot. I believe you want to go separate way too?"

When I think about it, there is a long way before I can establish a base camp on this planet. The crazy idea of establishing a command base with the help of local people still gives me a headache.

"I think I will become an adventurer too. Do you mind if I tag along a bit longer?"

The hesitant look on Aura's face disappeared. A wide smile showed on her face. "You do?"

"Yes, please teach me more about this plan...continent Aura."

"I will, of course, I will."

We then headed to the Krim's adventurer guild together. Aura walks ahead of me and makes a humming sound.

***** ***** *****

We reached a small building. When we opened the door, the noises in the room died down. A lot of gazes were directed at us.

A lot of muscular men with scars tried their hardest to look scary. Swords, Axes, Bows, and Staff lay beside every one of them.

A female civilized-looking receptionist welcomed us with a smile. A long blond hair, with a clean face.

"My name is Silia. How may I help you?"

"We want to register as an adventurer."

If I want to be honest she looks like captain Cecil. She just needs to braid her hair in the crown braid style.

"May I know your name?"

"Aura."

Nostalgia hit me hard. My comrades and the days we spent together in the GmFJT. I want to go the past time again.

Suddenly my side stomach feels hurt. Unconsciously I touched my side abdomen. Aura stands there with a pouting face. I am confused and look at the receptionist.

"Ahem. May I know your name?" Silia cleared her throat.

That was awkward.

"Cory, my name is Cory."

"Well, well, well. It looks like some kids want to be an adventurer."

Suddenly, a bald man with a stupid face and big stature come beside me. His hand leans on the receptionist's desk.

"I think you guys went to the wrong building."

Did we make mistake? To be honest. I don't know anything about being an adventurer.

"We are registering to be an adventurer," I said plainly.

"And I said you guys went to the wrong building. This is not the place for children playing to be an adventurer. Go back to your momma titt*es."

The other adventurer laugh when he heard this.

"Dorg! Stop this!" Silia stands up from her seat. "Don't harass them! Or I will call the Guild head again."

I forgot, due to Nia's capabilities inside me and Aura, we have the looks of younger males and females. So, this is harassment huh? Just because we look younger. This takes me back to when I went to the JMT Academy.

"He is strong," Aura interjected.

"He is strooong." Dorg imitated a chicken, flapping his arms.

Aura lost his patience and tried to punch him in the face. I hold her in her place and calm her down by patting her arm. You must not fight mockery with physic. Fight mockery with mockery.

"I believe I met you before," I said to him.

Dorg snickers. "Now, you understand my charm. I bet you met me while I am adventuring."

"Did you just color your skin with brown paint? I believe your skin is originally Dark Green." I said it like an innocent child.

One of the adventurers burst his beer from her nose.

GAHAHAHA! BWAHAHA!

Everyone in the guilds laughed out loud. The female adventurer sniggered. Even Silia, the receptionist sniggered, trying hard to hold her laugh. Aura beside me gripped my shoulder and cannot hold her laughter.

Dorg got embarrassed. His blood flowed to his head, and when he sees Silia trying to hold her laugh, his blood flowed again to his ears. His face looks full red.

Since there is a Dark Green Ogre, is there any Red Ogre? I got curious.

"You! No one dares spout that word to me!" Dorg fumed.

He grabs a wooden sword and throws it at me.

"Pick it up. I will teach you how is it to become an adventurer."

"Dorg stop this! It is just a joke."

Silia shouted. "And Cory, do not pick up the swo-"

I picked up the sword when Silia just tried to warn me.

"What?"

"It means you are accepting his duel request." Aura just explained it to me.

I see. So it is a tradition. It's more civilized than the bug who just shot us in every sight in the Federation war.

"Why don't you stop him? Oh my god, I will call the guild leader." Silia runs away from the adventurer's building trying to call the Guild Leader.

"Better call a healer," Aura shouted.

All of the adventurers drank, laughing and shouting. They are cheering for the fight. Some of them do not look interested.

"Be easy on him Dorg!"

"Dorg, I bet on you! it will finish in two minutes."

"I bet on a minute."

The atmosphere getting hotter.

Dorg snickered at me, ensured of his win. "I will kill you."

During my academy time, where seniority took place. There is a principle I always hold tight. It was from an anime drama.

The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed.

"The only ones who should kill, are those who are prepared to be killed."

Aura felt a shiver on her neck.
