At the open space in the middle of the park two girls stands at the opposite side of each other. The azure haired girl points her right foot straight forward while her left foot is positioned at 90 degree angle at the back. As for Leah, she didn't really have a specific stance, she just brought the two training sword at chest height and form a cross shape with it.
"Thank you for accepting my challenge, I don't know what I'll do if I spend any more time reading those boring books back at the library." Avery said. She can't barely contain her excitement. After all, aside from Cleo, this is the first time she encounter an adventurer around her age that's just as strong if not stronger than her.
Leah just shrugs and ignores the azure haired girl in front of her. The only reason why she accepted her challenge at the first place is because she thought she was trying to flirt with Cleo. She really didn't care about who's stronger or what not but of course base on stats alone she is definitely way stronger than her challenger.
"Leah don't overdo it, ok?" Cleo shouted. He just release a deep sigh and proceed to take a sit at the nearby bench to watch the sparring. He already know the outcome of the battle but he still need to watch just incase the worst case scenario happens.
Some of the adventurers that's already at the park prior took an interest at the sparring. Some ignore it and thought to themselves that this sparring are beneath them since the participants are young and they assume that they are at most just 1st Job. This is true about Avery however Leah is already at 2nd Job and she has a unique job to boot.
Considering most of the adventurers that are staying in this city is sketchy at their own ways. Its not long before some of them started placing bets on which one of these girls who will win. A towering orc started collecting bets from the bystanders that wishes to earn some quick gold. Most of them place their bets on the azure haired girl. Since they really don't know both of them personally they just base it on who has a better looking equipment and stance.
Though some are risk taker and bet on the red headed girl, not only the odds is higher when they win, they're also intrigue at the weapon of choice of the girl. Cleo took this opportunity to place a bet as well. The towering orc is a bit hesitant to let Cleo join at first however they kind a need his gold to at least close the gap of the odds.
"Let's get this over with Blue, a lot of people seems to take interest in our sparring." Leah said, she's obviously doesn't feel comfortable at the stare of the watchers from the sides.
"I'm ready when you are!" Avery acknowledged, she didn't even bother to correct her name this time.
"Lightning Step!" Leah shouted.
Avery widened her already open eyes when she saw Leah banish into thin air. She's sure that she didn't blink not even once to keep an eye at her opponent. She quickly regain her composure as to not get caught off guard.
"Mana Infused: Parry!" Avery shouted. She changes her stance to a more defensive one to prepare to parry Leah's attack. 'What is that skill? I thought she's a swordsman.' she pondered inwardly.
A few seconds later Leah appear behind Avery. She made a diagonal slash with both of her sword forming an X shape. Avery barely manage to parry both of the sword, the attack was too strong even for her that she almost let go of her own sword due to the vibration caused by the attack.
'What's with this strength and agility?' Avery asked inwardly while jumping backwards.
"Earth Spike!" Leah chanted while following Avery with her sword.
"Earth Spike? What job are you?" Avery shouted, she can't hold her curiosity anymore however this made her lose focus that she didn't notice that the Earth Spike appear behind her, targeting her nape.
Leah just smirks and proceed to do another diagonal slash with both of her sword, this put the azure haired girl in a dilemma. Block the blow in front or turn around and parry the sneak attack behind.
Avery doesn't really have a choice, whichever she chooses will result on her losing the spar unless she use her unique skill Dragon Soul which she really didn't to reveal especially with so many people around.
Witnessing the azure haired girl's dilemma, the bystanders who took the risk and bet on Leah started imagining what will they buy on the gold that they will earn after the sparring.
