Chapter 80 Words of Caution

Cleo stand up once he saw the maneuver Leah made.

'Alger... your grand daughter is too naive. She will really choose to defend against Leah's swords thinking its stronger because she thought she's an ordinary swordsman.' Cleo said inwardly.

Cleo is 100% right with his analysis at least in this case. Avery will have less injury if she decides to parry the earth spike instead since its more stronger due to Leah's stats distribution that is mainly focuses in intelligence.

Before waiting for Avery to needlessly die, Cleo rush forward and parry the earth spike Leah casted. His action shock both Leah and Avery.

"What are you doing darling?"

"What are you doing Cleo?"

"You already won Leah and... Avery you will die if I didn't block that attack." Cleo explained.

"Wh-what do you mean? She clearly use that skill to distract me, she can't be heavily invested in intelligence considering how strong and fast her swordsmanship is!" Avery retorted.

Cleo was right at his deduction, he put his palm to at his forehead while releasing a deep sigh of disappointment how naive this girl that's in front of him. She kind a reminds him of the old Valerie.

"Trust me you won't survive it, Leah would you mind directing your attack to that tree over there?"

"Earth Spike!" Leah chanted directing at the tree that Cleo pointed at.

A sharp spike made of rocks blasted through the tree cutting it in half. The bystanders who's currently arguing at who won because Cleo intervened, widened their eyes in shock at how strong the spell that came from a swordsman.

"See? I doubt you will survive that skill. Don't underestimate Leah's sorcery." Cleo said.

Avery is dumbfounded at the destruction she just witnessed with her own two eyes.

"Avery Irlyrri!" a shout broke Avery's reverie. The voice came from behind her, which is clearly irritated by the tone of his voice.

"Hieekk! Clyde let me explain!" Avery cried while Clyde pinches her ear.

"Didn't I told you to study those books so when the time Sylvia arrives, you will have a better grasp of your own fighting style?" Clyde said. "Wait... is that you Cleo?" he added once he finally notice the red head behind Avery.

"What are you doing here in Heccarte? You know this city is not really known for its hospitality especially to humans." Clyde said.

"To be honest we only knew that fact once we arrive here and besides this is the nearest place that have a library from where we were." Cleo explained. "Hey Clyde do you happen to know any information about Lance Artin the Martyr?" he added. He really don't want to reveal Clyde the real reason they're here but they almost spent two hours in the library already and not even one book that leads to Lance Artin the Martyr.

"Lance Artin the Martyr? Why are you interested on him?" Clyde probed. "Well... If I were you, I wouldn't believe any story about Lance Artin the Martyr and don't mention his name again especially in front of an elf." he added.

"Why is that?" Cleo asked. Now he's more curious and he's sure that Clyde knows something.

"That is if you don't want to unnecessary make an enemy of an elf. His name is kind a taboo and the moment the elven fanatics found out that Arch Priestess Larissa was accompanying him in a dangerous mission made his previous achievement invalidated. They made everything in their power to discredited him." Clyde explained. "That's all I know and its best that you move on and forget about him already." he added.

He then made a slight bow and force the azure haired girl as well to follow suit before leaving Cleo and Leah.

"He clearly knows more than what he's telling us." Leah said once Clyde and Avery is already out of their sight.

"I know, the question is, how can we extract that information to that person?" Cleo wondered.

"We can try and ask Alger, what do you think darling?" Leah suggested.

"Well he's easier to talk to more than that person, I guess." Cleo said. "Let's go for now, I can't stand to stay another second at this place." he added.

Before they head towards the carriage, Cleo didn't forgot to claim his prize at the towering orc.
