Sound of heavy breathing coming from an elf reverberate the long and narrow corridor. Every a few paces or so he uses his arrow to scratch the surface of the wall. Marking it so he can back track his location when its time to go back and regroup with the other two that he left.
River whose noticeably exhausted by just looking at him at first glance is trying his best to stay awake. The attack from the man-shaped creature earlier still affecting him. It surprising he can still stand despite taking a mental damage of that degree, at this point he is solely being fueled by adrenaline.
After a few more minutes of nonstop walking River notice a person at the end of the corridor. The moment he saw the silhouette he slows down his pace and observe at the distance.
"Keen Eyes" he muttered activating an equipment skill that he received from the Hallows Guild upon joining them. This skill magnifies one vision however they can't really use it that long since it puts a huge strain in the user's eyes.
River took a closer look at the silhouette that's in front of him. For some reason it is not moving so he thought it might be another undead. He spend a few more minutes observing the unknown silhouette. At his current condition even an undead that has the same level as him, he will have a difficult time dealing with it.
He slowly crept at the direction of the silhouette, little by little, the silhouette gets clearer as he got closer. The first thing he notice is the blond long hair then the pointy ears and finally the well build physique.
Once he was sure that the silhouette in front of him is not an undead. River release a sigh of relief and called to it. Though he is till being cautious by grasping a concealed knife behind his back.
"Hey are you an adventurer?" River called out at the elf in front of him. "Hey, I'm talking to you." he called out again this time tapping the elf on his shoulders to get his attention.
River tighten his grip at the concealed knife behind his back just in case that the elf in front of him is hostile.
The elf turn around and River let out an audible gasp upon seeing the face of the elf that is in front of him.
"Cormyth, is that you? What are you doing here?" River asked. Looks like that he is acquainted at the elf.
"River? I could ask the same to you." Cormyth returned the question back at him.
"Let's save the pleasantry for later we need to get out of here. Please help me get my friends that I left behind waiting." River asked.
"Not a problem, squadron leader!" Cormyth teased.
"Don't remind me of that day." River retorted but his glad that a familiar face shows up and a huge burden on his shoulder has been lifted.
The two of them back track using the markings at the walls River made earlier. The walk back is much faster due to him being more familiar with the direction.
"So Cormyth why are you in this place?" River asked. Since he already knows the direction by just following the markings, he can afford to at least make a small talk at their potential savior.
"I came down here with a party but unfortunately we got split up. Earlier when you found me I was trying to back track my steps in order to find the exit." Cormyth explained. "How about you?" he asked back.
"Basically same as you however in our case we met an enemy that we can't deal on our own. Fortunately we manage to escape from it." River replied.
"Are you sure about that?" Cormyth asked.
"Wh-what do you mean?" River asked back.
"I'm sorry if it came out wrong, I'm just making sure." Cormyth said while slightly smiling to prevent the mood from being tense.
"Ye-yes I apologize as well, it's just that I'm on edge right now since its this is the first time I saw a monster like that." River explained while forcing a smile as well.
