“You need to go back to your good Catholic daddy,” he snapped, painfully spitting at me over his shoulder.

“I don’t like getting this way with you.” His tone suddenly changed, softening at the sight of my face.

“But you need to know that you’re oblivious to the truth. I just…. I can’t trust your words anymore.”

I couldn’t take anymore of this. I felt as though I were going to collapse with the weight of it all.

“Oh yeah? And what ever happened to bearing one another’s burdens? Isn’t that in the f*cking Bible, too?”

And what did he have to ‘mistrust about my words’? When had I ever attempted to lie to him?

“I don’t believe the story about your father, Kitty. I… I’m sorry if my words come across as harsh, but you’ll believe the truth when you see it for yourself. And I’m sorry but I just can’t believe in any of what you are telling me right now.”
