Chapter 45: To Find You Again
Nodding, I could feel the relief washing through me.
But after I observed how well the first student read, I couldn’t get out of my mind the worry, the fear, the endless anxiety that I wouldn’t do nearly as well, that my words wouldn’t flow in such a fluid way as his.
My shaking quickly turned to tremors, and when he took a seat, I felt my stomach lurching.
It was him. Emanuel.
“All right,” my teacher turned to look at me softly, “Are you ready?”
“Yes…” I replied hesitantly, unable to express fully what I felt through words. Part of me desired to run from the room, but a larger part of me wanted to unload all of my deepest desires, dreams, fears purely onto this man, in the hopes that he might comfort her.
“Are you sure?” He raised his eyebrows slightly, holding my gaze for a few seconds longer than usual, smiling gently.
“Yes…” I caught my breath guiltily, feeling utterly taken, a wave of passion swelling through my cheeks.
