A hand grabbed her ankle and tugged, dragging her through the space, and Felicity screamed. She couldn't take in what was around her, and she closed her eyes tightly on the verge of throwing up.
The cool touch was spreading up her body, and Felicity felt for her sword that was attached to her back, ready to attack whatever came at her. Grabbing onto the hilt, she didn't have enough time to bring it out before she crashed onto a body head first.
Felicity groaned from the sharp pain in her shoulder and tried to lift herself off, but the strength left her arms, and her face landed on their hard chest. She wasn't in the engyure anymore.
Instead of various odd shades of colors surrounding her, it was a tropical forest with vibrant leaves of green and turquoise. Her trembling hand touched reached to touch her head from the dizziness and felt some liquid dripping down her jaw. Looking down at her hand, it was dark red. Blood.
The guy underneath her shuddered a deep breath, and Felicity tried to scoot off his body. She eventually crawled off and sat a few feet away trying to catch her breath that was seized in her lungs. He was able to bring himself up and stared at her incredulously. "What were you thinking?"
Felicity took in his eyes which were still the odd mix of blue and grey, and his wheat-colored hair was matted from sweat, but still looked somewhat styled. He was handsome, but that was not an important matter at the moment.
Obrien was seriously crazy, and they needed to find a rune quickly if they wanted to get out alive at that point, judging by the number of people injured that she saw were taken away.
She touched her shoulder which was dislocated. It was hanging to the right a little bit more, and Felicity reached out to lightly touch it, biting her lip from the pain that zipped through her arm. Felicity knew how to pop a shoulder in place since a while back ago Aston got his shoulder mess up during taekwondo, and Felicity had the nerve to shove it back in.
She didn't know how to do it on herself though, but the guy in front of her aligned her injured arm parallel to her body, gently moving it back in forth slowly. Felicity didn't question him or move away since it seemed like he knew what he was doing. He lifted his gaze from her arm, and Felicity meet his eyes before nodding in consent.
One moment, she was nervously waiting for the pain, and the next, she sat back howling in back as he shoved her shoulder back in. She desperately needed a sling, but with where they were at right now with no supplies, she would have to bear with the pain.
"Thanks," she hoarsely whispered. He nodded mutely while she tried to unstick her tongue off the rough of her mouth. She was so thirsty. Felicity pointed to his canvas bag and mimed a water bottle. He sighed, as he stiffly dug around his bag. Pulling out a slim grey flask, he placed it in her hands.
After a few sips, Felicity tried to stand but ended up falling to nearby a tree. He helped her up after sending her a warning glance since she kept on getting herself hurt, and Felicity leaned back on the ground where she sat cross-legged.
He tossed her some gauze and some tape, pointing to her head. She unrolled a small bit of the gauze, biting the piece off. Taping a small bit to her forehead, she tried not to cringe. Hopefully, it wouldn't get infected. She would need to clean it later.
"Did we get transported to a new dimension?"
"No," he paused. "That was the most stupid thing I've heard all day."
Felicity's lips flattened. "Spare me since it was a reasonable guess after all the unusual and impossible events that are happening."
He sighed. "I guess."
"We are on an island just a couple miles from the one Obrien had transported all you trainees to."
"Are you sure? These," Felicity pointed to the bright fuchsia leaves, "Don't seem natural."
"They aren't. I think they are mutating from the engyures energy," he replied. "I know we're on an island because I got here by boat looking for the rune. There was a black circle, two halves of one split open above me just a second ago, and I saw a leg sticking out."
Felicity grimaced. "That sounds gruesome."
"I grabbed it, and you're still alive."
Felicity crossed her arms and leaned against the tree nearby. She wanted to hurry and get back to her group because they must think she was dead, not knowing where she went and couldn't risk another person jumping in the engyure.
"We should probably look for the rune now," she said.
He nodded. "Let's go…"
She spread her legs out in front of her, wanting to introduce herself first. "Felicity."
He ran a hand up his arm. "Leo."
"Well, let's get out of here alive, hm?"
"You look on the shore first then."
"Okay," she replied. Felicity tried to get up but crumpled to the ground again. The harsh sand dug into her legs, the thick fabric of the suit doing nothing to protect her skin. Her legs felt like jelly—almost detached in a way. She hit her legs with her fist to try and get feeling back into her calves. Gripping the tree, she waved him away. "Go, we need to hurry."
He turned his back away and stalked off with his hands in his pockets. Felicity flicked her eyes back to her path. She needed to get the rune before him. The least that she could do was help her group. Slowly, inching her way to shore, the dirt beneath her slowly turned a brilliant sandy white.
