People were separated into groups from what she could tell, divided by those who were clearly opposed to law enforcement and those who were hesitant. Felicity climbed up the stairs of one of the many routes to get to the center of the town and stared in awe at the sheer amount of people who were crowded outside and pushing people out of the way.
She crossed her arms and fled back into the congested crowd to not look suspicious. Many people were still muttering and curious as to what was happening which meant that they got swept up in the storm of the protestors without knowing what was going on.
Not many people cared to think that there were monsters on the earth, but rather the status of the economy that was going crazy and completely uncontrollable. She shuffled her way through the crowd since the group was going in the direction of her house.
She didn't see anyone that she recognized which would have only hindered her mission. All she wanted to see with her own eyes was the fact that the creatures that her father mentioned and everyone else saw were the ones that she saw during her test and they were.
Felicity didn't know what to do with the information now since it wasn't like she could do anything without her affinity weapon. She ducked her head when others were trying to look for their loved ones and partners since she needed to have a low profile so that she wouldn't get questioned or even worse hurt if it comes to rioters getting all violent.
When humans tend to get pressured, they revert to their instincts of killing or being killed. It hadn't gotten gruesome yet, but the police force was struggling on containing those who thought it was better to get an answer through their weapons.
Open gunshots went loose, and Felicity ducked beside cars, as people screamed for their life. She didn't look back to see what was left of the crowd but could tell the damage when people fled, leaving red marks of their footprints marked in blood.
Felicity peeked under the car to see where everyone was running to. She needed to go in the opposite direction, but if she broke away from the crowd, someone was bound to see her.
The police force was coming in full swing by now, and Felicity stood up from her hiding spot to sprint with the others. Chewing on her lips nervously, she stood behind taller people until they ran past some townhouses.
It was a perfect moment to break away, and Felicity slid a glance around her before going into the dark cranny between the townhouses that were built so close together.
She walked slowly, careful to not make a sound in the damp atmosphere, and she glanced down to see the water that was mixed with who knows what, turning the water into an iridescent shine of grey.
Felicity was almost on the other side when she realized that she was being followed. She couldn't scream but hurried her footsteps in fear for her life. They towered over her when she looked back from the corner of her eye before her stomach dropped as she recognized those uniforms.
They kept her up at night, bringing her anxiety whenever she rested her head, scared that one day she might transfer back to the place where the creatures and horrible guides were.
The rough hands yanked her arm back, and she bit down her curse when she lost her footing and tumbled down. They pulled her head up while she trashed her limbs around to try and escape.
She knew that they were there to take her back to do whatever plan she didn't sign up to do, but she couldn't leave yet. Her parents and Aston were going to kill her if she disappeared from them like this.
"Felicity Clarke," one of them muttered. "If you cooperate, we will not hurt you."
"I'm not going back!" Felicity yelled. "Let me go!"
She slammed her foot into one of the man's chests making him grunt and a sharp pain run down her leg. Gritting her teeth, she geared up to sprint when the other grabbed ahold of her arm and slammed her into the wall.
Her breath was crushed out of her while he pulled out his taser that was snapping at her. Felicity kicked his knee, making his leg buckle, but she didn't escape the taser fast enough.
The sharp burn cascaded down the side of her body from the impact on her ribs, and Felicity screamed from the shock. She whimpered as her legs lost their strength, and she crumpled down on the dingy ground.
The light at the end of the tunnel wasn't far, and Felicity reached for it. Her breath was shallow with the buzzing in her ear, and she couldn't handle the fact that she almost made it.
Tears slipped down her cheek when she screamed, as the needle jammed into her neck. Her feet dangled in the air, as he had her in a chokehold. She fought back as best she could, her throat closing in on her, but still able to ram her elbow into the person's masked face.
He stumbled back, and she kicked him in the stomach back further until he crashed into the wall. She ripped the syringe from her neck and shoved it into the other guy's arm. Rotating on her hips, she disentangled herself from him, but she didn't get far when he got her into a headlock.
"Get your hands off me," Felicity screamed.
Her heart was beating fast, but her body was so weak with all her other senses dulling. She sprinted down the tiny alleyway, forcefully bringing up her sluggish legs, through the small space between the building with the wind in her face, but she couldn't feel the breeze instead she felt her body shutting down.
She needed to get into the street where someone could see her. The end was near with the bright light reflecting on the brick walls and onto her face.
Felicity stumbled on the uneven concrete, struggling to breathe before eventually succumbing to the anesthesia working through her body and collapsing on the pavement.
