She gained consciousness, the fuzziness of when one first wakes up and still attempting to piece the last events in the head. It didn't take long for Felicity to clutch her head and groan when she realized that she had failed and gotten captured.
Felicity needed to be extremely lucky which she didn't have in the first place. She wiped her eyes with her right hand before realizing that her left hand was bound. Flinching, Felicity internally screamed when she saw that she was handcuffed to a bed.
What was happening? On the verge of losing it, she pulled herself up and shuddered. Felicity never wanted to come into contact with a needle again. Every time she was met with one, the needle was large and forcefully administered.
She was definitely captured for the purposes of dealing with whatever the government officials had in store for her next. Needles were their usual MO which gave out it was them.
Felicity glanced down at her lap to see that a small black badge dangled around her neck, and she grabbed the end of the card up to inspect the badge which held the transparent ID card. It was the same card that was given to her during school months ago when she was called into her first test.
Breathing out a harsh breath, her eyes darted around the room that was small yet surprisingly tidy. There was a large mirror to her right that exposed her form on the bed, and a small dresser pushed by the door. Everything looked new and as if someone had just planted them inside a minute ago.
Finally getting her voice to work, she decided to taunt them first to get people out to her room to see who she personally dealing with. "Let me out!"
There was no answer after a few minutes. Felicity sat back down on the bed, leaning her back on the headboard, as she contemplated on her escape, her hands still shaking.
She felt around her pockets and was surprised that she still had her phone on her. Felicity carefully swiped up on her phone. Her lock screen of her and her mother popped up, but there was no reception. She cast her eyes around the room once more to see that there was a window with thin metal bars covering it in the furthest left corner.
It was legitimately a prison cell that was only made to look pretty on the outside. Felicity meagerly waved her phone around, trying to find cameras, but nothing changed. She sighed out a deep irritated breath. She left the house only to get captured the moment she tried to return. That was just her luck.
The door opened then, and she pursed her lips when she saw Obrien and his men enter the room. She didn't have any true negative feelings towards Obrien when she first met him a couple of months ago, but that wasn't the case anymore when he showed up in front of her again with a smirk on his face.
The large size of the room turned cramped as more people filed in, and she scooted closer to the wall where the bed was stationed. Obrien was lively as ever; there was a scowl painted on his face while answering his walkie.
"Felicity Clarke," he barked.
Felicity waved her chained hand at him. "Sir."
"You are being deployed to the Pacific as soon as possible."
She shook her head. What? "No. Let me out immediately."
"You have already given your consent."
Felicity pulled on the handcuff, and it sharply dug into her wrist. "I DIDN'T SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING!"
"This is non-negotiable."
"Let me go!"
"This is the first wave we are sending out that are armed with affinity weapons. You have a high percentage of affinity with your weapon. Please do the honor of serving her country."
Felicity cast her eyes to the ceiling and closed them for a moment. She prayed for patience before opening them again. It seemed as though the government was certainly finding loopholes in the law and using them to their advantage.
She wasn't going to sign her life away. But she guessed that choice was taken away from her the moment she was pulled in for testing like all the other teenagers in the country. "Absolutely not. Find someone else willing."
"You are ready even if you aren't willing."
"No! Please let me go."
"We need to go as soon as possible."
"You kidnapped me!" she screamed.
Obrien pinched the bridge of his nose in irritation. She changed the topic since they were talking in circles. "Why am I chained to the bed? I'm not a criminal."
"You are not. But in this chamber, you have enhanced abilities. We were taking a precaution."
"This room? Please. Don't lie to me."
Obrien smirked. "This is an experimental case, and you, Felicity Clarke, were chosen to be one of the firsts."
Felicity shook her head furiously. "I will not do it."
Obrien lifted his eyes and glared at her to dare Felicity to challenge him. "This area has a strong geomagnetic energy that is reflected within the affinity weapons."
The whole situation was getting more bizarre. Monsters and weapons sounded like something out of a book, but it was unfortunately real life. She kept pressing for more. Felicity would take whatever she could get. "Are scientist the ones who created the raures?"
Felicity was losing him judging by the impatient tapping of his foot. "Classified information. Are you done?"
Felicity sighed. Obrien walked over to her and inserted the key that was in his pocket. He placed the links on the bedside table and stood over her. Felicity rubbed her wrists and slipped around Obrien.
Obrien turned to face her. "Do you understand the circumstances? The country may declare a national emergency soon."
"I do understand. I just…" Felicity paused. She didn't want to be on the battle lines and die. Was that selfish of her? She crossed her arms.
Obrien had the audacity to snicker at her. "Is there something you want? Tell me, and we'll take care of it."
"I don't want anything. Please just let me go."
"You match up perfectly with your metal. We are gathering one of each which is why we are only taking the best."
Felicity almost barked at him to screw off, but she didn't get the chance to when everything around her shook. Red lights flashed on, and Obrien immediately froze as he yelled into his earpiece.
Chills ran down her body when another bomb went off making pieces of the ceiling ran down overhead. There were distant screaming in the distance, and Felicity tugged harshly on the handcuff once more.
The building shook, the ground uneasy, and one of the men grabbed her arm and pushed her down on the bed to cover her. Felicity thrashed her legs, trying to get the heavy weight off of her.
"Get her out of here!" Obrien finally shouted. "I'll grab the other two."
