No Time To Shine

Leo unzipped the backpack around his shoulder to quickly rummage through it. "Let's make our exit. The building is about to crumble any moment."

Felicity closed her eyes and nodded while leaning her head back on the cool cinderblock wall despite feeling the treacherous vibrations that could make or break their escape. "How did you get the backpack?"

"I was lucky my cell had an equipment room nearby."

"Did you get anything else?"

"Just the backpack and food. I was able to grab the weapons on the other side of the room since that was when the guards came after me."

"Missed opportunity."

"I'd say that it was a huge missed opportunity which is why we are here now."

Melissa came to sit next to Felicity, and Felicity opened her arms so that Melissa could huddle closer to her. Felicity understood that at moments like this, comfort was a huge factor in how people were able to get through. She squeezed Melissa's shoulder and fluttered open her eyes.

Leo took out a black cylinder and bounced it up and down in his hand before placing it by the far wall. "Let's pray this is an exterior wall."

She didn't have time to process what he was doing, and Felicity reached out for him when he abruptly yanked the desks down before them for cover when it all happened in a split second.

The wall blew up with a huge explosion that shook the earth so heavily it in turn made the desks push back and fall on top of them. Felicity instinctively pushed her hands over her head while covering Melissa, and the debris flew everywhere in a frenzy.

The bits and pieces of the stone were flying, and Felicity ducked her head, but it didn't help that the building wasn't stable in the first place. The walls were fully going down.

Small sharp fragments from the ceiling fell upon her, the stabbing pain just enough to make her grimace. She brushed off the rubble on her head and shook her shirt from the dirt clinging to it after everything had rested in the aftermath of the explosion.

Obrien had to know where they were hiding at this point since their cover was literally blown. The force from the small explosion also left a loud ring in her head due to the close proximity.

A hand reached out over the desks and pulled her up along with Melissa, and Felicity gritted her teeth from the pain shooting down her body. Leo extracted them from under all the rubbish, and she pressed a hand to her head, trying to regain her balance.

Her eyes were hazy, but she could see green blotches ahead. She couldn't tell if she was just imagining though. Blinking frantically, she wiped her eyes and watched as Leo's mouth moved as he was shouting something when all the sound came back rushing to her ears in colorful bountiful cacophonous noises.

Felicity placed a hand to her heart to feel it pounding erratically, and she ended up laughing at the incredulous moment of realization that Leo blew up the wall which elicited a smirk from Leo's end that lit up his face.

Knowing that she was being crazy, she turned back to grab Melissa's arm and whipped her head back around to see that the door was fully blocked away which was truly a blessing on their end.

Pounding came from the other side of the barricaded door, and Leo slung his backpack over his shoulder before sprinting out the broken wall.

"RUN!" Leo shouted.

Felicity pulled Melissa harder to try and get her to work, and they finally sprinted out of the building through the hole in the wall and into the bright light.

It was an understatement to say she was surprised by the grasslands outside. She thought they were in the middle of the ocean. The grassy fields went on forever. Hills upon hills. There were no trees, and the land was a bright luscious green.

Their next task was to get over the metal chain wall that went around the area that had signs up that let them know that it could be potentially fatal to try and climb over since it would electrocute them to no end.

Her eyes were still adjusting from the dim lighting of the building since it was so sunny outside, and Felicity wiped the sweat that formed on her cupid's bow and pushed away the sluggish feeling from her legs weighing her down.

Leo wasn't far ahead and turned back to check on them as they rounded the corner of the building that was practically a huge square that had no windows whatsoever and was built in this odd dark-colored material.

Melissa keeled over to catch her breath and pressed a hand to her back that was sore, and Felicity stretched her arms above her head and the rest of her body which was extremely exhausted to try and make herself wake up. "We need to blow up a hole in the electrical wall."

Leo ripped the wristbands off his wrists with his teeth, and the black bands fluttered to the ground as he adjusted another black cylinder to the wall that was fully exposed.

Felicity brought her hands to her face, but Leo tossed something to her instead. She caught the bulletproof vest, and she looked up at him inquisitively.

"Put it on."

Felicity slid the Kevlar vest over her head, and Leo also gave one to Melissa.

Melissa flipped her hair out of the vest. "Why do we need to wear the vests?"

Leo shrugged. "In case. Better safe than sorry."

"I'm just surprised that there doesn't seem to be a lot of people within this facility," Melissa said. "I don't think that it was an easy feat to get out though."

"I don't know where we are going to head after this though. We could be in the middle of nowhere," Felicity pondered before shaking the thought away. One step at a time.

Leo motioned for them to run over to the right a few feet before he pressed a button on the bomb that she didn't see earlier. It was likely now that she was expecting something though versus earlier it came out of thin air. Leo ran over to them when Melissa nervously crossed her arms.

"Do we need to take cover?" Melissa asked.

Leo lifted a shoulder before brushing his hands down his pants. "Where would we go?"

Felicity glanced around and sighed. There was literally nowhere to hide since it was just the cleanly mowed grass that was in between the fence and the facility. They would just need to take the hit of the powerful explosion as they had done earlier.

Felicity played around with the Velcro of her vest. "We can't go far anyways since we need to stay somewhat close to be able to run through the hole made by the explosion."

"We can't waste any more time," Leo said.

Felicity nodded. "Blow it up."
