Grain of Truth

Felicity didn't know how Medina was planning on the package other than just the helicopters flying next to each other, because for them to land on an island would be even more dangerous with the conditions of the open engyure spreading far and wide.

All in all, she was glad to get her affinity weapon to say the least. It did feel unnatural, setting alarm bells off in her head, but with the weapon, she was able to get through the raures. With her sword in hand, there was a guilt that silently choked her, but in the end, if no one was able to do then, she would have to pick up their slack. Leo being next to her side helped, but she didn't know if she would be able to control her weapon. Felicity did admit that she did feel a pull to the metal, but it was a calling that made her senses tingle and put an awareness around her that made her realize that she may be well over her head in the circumstances they were currently standing in.

However, it did make sense that the suits were enhancing the small blades that they did have because Felicity never really thought about the true importance of the weapons. She was surprised that she didn't realize it sooner. It seemed as though the weapons were truly needed to destroy the creatures that had come onto the earth. That would make sense as to why the government would to go such lengths to try and find people who were compatible with the metals that were found.

Those that could wield the affinity weapons were truly the last hope for humanity if the engyures didn't go away. Felicity didn't want to think too hard about how raures and engyures showed in the first place since her main thought was to be able to get everyone out and alive in a safe manner, but it did linger like a bad taste in her mouth.

Felicity was curious as to who found the metals, and why they had immediately thought of creating them into weapons of several sorts, and she asked the question since they didn't have much to do anyway. If Medina said that it was classified information, Felicity would just have to remind her that she had already known some from beforehand.

"How did you guys find the affinity weapons?" Felicity asked. "Did you find the metal first and then turn it into weapons? If so, why?"

Medina slid her jewel-like eyes over to her with a frown. "Even I don't know that information."

Leo crossed his arms with a long sigh. "I'm sure you know some. It would help us if we know what you know."

Medina's lips came together in a flat line before nodding in agreement. "I would ask for the same. However, that information is classified."

Felicity waved her off. "Classified? When we're putting our necks out on the line here? If your goal is to help humanity, we need some answers to our questions since we are the key to what you need."

"That may be true, but you forget where your place is," Medina said as she glanced out the window.

Felicity shook her head. "Then what will you make the rest of the young adults and teenagers do? Force them against their will when we are willing to help?"

Medina lifted a shoulder. "That's quite a switch-up on your end, Felicity. I thought that you were against it."

Another noise from afar was getting closer by the second, but she didn't pay any mind to it. Felicity knew that Medina was only trying to push her buttons, and she sat back against the walls of the helicopter to try and let herself get so tense. "I'm only here to help. If I can at least provide my family safety in any way, I'm going to take it. It won't make sense for me to go to a home that is destroyed."

Medina massaged her temples. "Tell me, how told you two about the raures?"

"Our doctors during the test," Leo responded.

"I see," Medina said slowly. "If you both are so curious, you are going to have to bark up another tree since I don't have the answers that you are looking for."

"But at least tell us what you know," Felicity bit out getting tired that Medina was trying to drag it out.

"Alright," Medina finally agreed. "But it's only second-hand information if even that."

"Rumors must hold a grain of truth," Leo said simply.

"The affinity weapons were found that way after some researchers went into the engyure when it opened up. They were found in the ground of the engyures, but I don't know how they found such a large quantity of the weapons. It would have to be done at a mass scale for what we have at the moment," Medina said.

"What is the timeline for that?" Felicity asked.

"It was after the engyures opened in a panic," Medina replied. "Other than that, I'm following the instructions given to me. The scientists had worked hard to figure out a way to close the engyures, and it seems to be only conquerable by items found in whatever place is inside there."

Felicity nodded. "I see. Would you say that the engyure is a different place in the world or a new dimension?"

Medina threw her hands up in the air. "I don't know. That right there is what every scientist in the world is trying to figure out right now."

Leo frowned. "All we can hope now is for more engyures to pop up around the world. What would you say are the conditions for an engyure to spawn?"

"I'm still not sure, but the ones that I have jurisdiction over have always been by a body of water."

"Yes, I made that connection too," Felicity said. "I just don't understand where it adds up."

Medina sighed as she suddenly stood and went over to the door getting ready to unlatch it with them still being well up in the air. "It seems that our package is here."
