Crystalline Tears

Felicity forced herself to keep her eyes open despite wanting to close her eyes in fear hoping that everything was just a dream. But she was grounded in reality, knowing that she would never be able to see the world the same again.

She needed to land on her feet, but the chance of that was slim. Felicity frantically slammed her many daggers into the raure to try and stop her fall as if she was doing rock climbing. The first few fell, and she kept on falling down the side, trying her best to stick on.

Her daggers weren't going in deep enough, and a scream was ripped out of her throat in frustration as she could tell that the window of saving herself was dimming. Tears breached her eyes as she slammed her last four daggers into the side of the raure finally stopping gravity from taking over.

Absolutely winded, she tried to breathe but couldn't catch her breath since she truly thought that she wouldn't be able to do it. On the verge of hyperventilating, she brought her forehead to her hands which were batted and bruised, she knew that was lucky.

Looking down at Leo, she nodded to him and extended down the rope from her backpack. Felicity wasn't sure that she would be able to pull him up and hold his weight, but she tied the rope around her waist. They wouldn't get anywhere if she didn't try.

Leo wrapped the rope around his wrist, assisting him as he did his best to stab the creature in the way up to not using Felicity as his sole anchor. She could see how the skin around his arm was flaring up carrying their affinity swords by himself.

He grunted, every movement of the sword painful, and Felicity reached out for him when she saw him waver. The rest of their group swam closer to the base of the raure despite Felicity's loud protests. Felicity yelped in fear as she zeroed back on Leo. Leo was about to give out.

The iris of Leo's normally blue eyes had a ring of bright red that flashed. It startled her, and it made Leo's brows drawn in together. But the bigger worry was her sword combined with his was threatening to detach. Felicity dangled her left hand down to attempt and grab his arm as he got near.

Her tears slipped down her cheeks due to the prolonged state of being in fear. Leo looked up at her and mustered a grin. "Don't cry, Felicity."

Leo wasn't one to smile since he would normally be closed off or with a blase attitude that would annoy her to no end. She shook her head and pressed her lips together to harden her expression. "Don't smile. It doesn't suit you."

Leo laughed, a slow husky laugh that sounded like a wheeze. Felicity leaned down as she could without losing grip on her daggers, but the small hilt didn't give her much range or rather any range at all. Their fingers missed just slightly, making Leo swing to the right and lose his balance.

She screamed, and Leo smacked into the side of the raure. Felicity didn't know how he was still withstanding all the pressure. She could hear faint voices calling their names. The colossal raure continued to try to shake them off, and Felicity was so angry with the circumstances but had no way to release the tension.

Leo was there for her though and repeatedly stabbed the raure with their blazed affinity weapons. He was muttering all the words that Felicity was feeling right now too, but the raure could hardly care less about the curses that they were sprouting at it.

The amount of force their weapons caused was awe-inspiring. But Leo wasn't able to wield the blade well at all. The slashes were powerful, but they counteracted since the attack wasn't. The raure hissed and jerked repeatedly, and Felicity hung on tightly.

"Don't use our weapons!" she yelled. "You're hurting yourself!"

Leo hissed out a breath. "I can't get up any other way."

They were stuck in an unfortunate situation it seemed. Unfortunately, they could never seem to get out of it despite coming out unscathed for the most part. Leo had done his part, now it was up to her to do put in her two cents.

Felicity tried her best to gauge the distance from him to her, but it was too much of a gamble to slide down the slight curve of where Leo was since he risked so much just to get her to the top of the raure. Leo was still doing his best to get up with his own efforts.

Leo was tired out, so the chance of him catching her if she fell was slim as it was. They would have to meet halfway for something to change.
