Breathing heavily, Felicity leaned her head lightly on Leo's shoulder. They had gotten rid of the mega spikes that posed a greater danger to them. The rest were smaller ones that they could dodge, but it wasn't a good idea considering that they flew in what seemed to be a blink of an eye.
Dodging the spikes were a bad idea. The good idea would be for them to get away from the area since they were currently exposed to all kinds of dangers with no covering. Despite the hard work of them finally getting to the top of the colossal raure, they needed to get off.
The rest of their group below were doing their best to inflict whatever kind of damage they could to the colossal raure. Judging by how the raure turned its attention from Felicity and Leo for a split second to them, about ready to aim its spikes at them.
Felicity knew that she and Leo didn't have a lot of time left. Medina and the rest were already doing their part of trying to stick out for as long as possible along with attributing to their best ability to help on both their ends.
A clear shot on the ribcage was impossible at their vantage point. Felicity thought that they would have a chance at the top near the head, but they couldn't drive their blade deep enough to cause damage to the hard casing of the ribcage.
Their only hope was to drive it in through the side now the raure was on its side. They needed to get airborne one more time to end it once and for all. They tightened their grip on the sword with the never-ending shocks continuing up their arms.
"Let's go home," she whispered.
With the chaotic movement of the colossal raure underneath their feet, they ran forward, their steps quick, having one breath, finally getting to the side of the raure after taking care of the mega thorns, getting ready to swim through the air.
She didn't even need the countdown anymore and judging by Leo's glance, he knew it as well. "Don't start crying now, Felicity."
Felicity rolled her eyes. "Tears, where? Don't start hallucinating now."
She knew that they couldn't waste time but with just a few words exchanged with him, Felicity could feel herself start to settle.
"The scary part is almost over."
She reached for him as they went near the edge. "Let me know when it starts."
Their make-shift ground of the raure gave way as they jumped, and the harsh winds whipped around them. They were gearing up to slash into the ribcage as they fell, but the colossal raure had a large body in size which grew even taller with its vertical stance.
Despite the crazy gravity, she held onto Leo as if her life depended on it. His arms shielded her as best as they could, but they were both flipping through the air so fast that when more spikes flew at them, they weren't able to react fast enough.
Felicity screamed and cut through the thorns as best as she could. Some made contact with her body, but the metal spears bounced off of their suits. One flew near her face, and Felicity grit her teeth when it sliced her cheek with a hot flare of pain.
The bruises that she had were in no hurry to go away since the collection was still growing. The only part of their bodies exposed was their faces, so it was only in due time that something happened there.
Blood slid down her face, and she turned to see that Leo also had a matching cheek. She laughed lightly despite their humorless situation. Leo's lips twisted up, and they looked down to see that they would make contact with the raure soon.
The rest of the spikes gave way, but they still couldn't get a clear shot on the chest. Their swords blazed with a haze over top of the blade as it hovered closer to the colossal raure. As they were falling, Felicity made the split decision to lunge forward with Leo immediately following her.
Their sword blazed with blue light as it made contact with the raure. Cutting through the clear flesh, Felicity couldn't hold back the hiss of pain from their blade as they slid their affinity weapon inside the colossal raure. The entity bellowed, causing more of raures underneath to merge.
Felicity could hear guns going off below, and she was shaken from all the events pouring back in, sharpening her senses. It capitalized on the yelling of confusion, the constant pattering of bullets, and the ringing of the raures screeching below the waters. The only thing that she and Leo could do for them now was finish this.
