#Chapter3
I sat at the dining room table, finishing up my last project for school. I had to do a end of the year project that was worth half my final grade so I needed peace and quiet. No place better for that then home.
/"Prom is this weekend, aren't you excited?/" My mom cheered. She seemed to be a little more excited then me.
/"I'am./" I half smiled.
Between finding the perfect dress, the perfect shoes, the right hairstyle, and the makeup option, I was more overwhelmed then excited.
I finished up my work right before my mother returned with a plate of dinner. Salisbury steak, mashed potatoes, gravy and crescent rolls. My stomach was growling harshly but for some reason, I couldn't eat.
I was so focused in thought that I didnt notice my mother was watching me play with my food.
/"Are you okay?/" My mom asked.
/"Huh? Oh yea, Im great./"
I lied. I wasn't great. I was really worried about what was going on in the pack house. What was going on with Jason. Lately, he's been... strange.
Ive notice his temper has been over the roof lately. Even though he didn't take it out on me, it was scaring everyone else. Ive notice he has been spacing out a lot. One moment he's in the conversation, the next its like he's emotionally gone. Just blank.
/"But mom how are you?/" Even though my mother and I live in the same house, we rarely saw each other often. Between her constantly working, and me in school and at the pack house, its rare that we see each other.
/"Im great hun./" She smiled.
/"Whatever happened to that guy from your job, you know, the one that came by for dinner?/"
/"Oh Chris?/" A bright smile danced onto her face.
/"Yeah./"
/"He's actually taking me to dinner tomorrow night./" Her cheeks turned a bright red as she blushed.
/"Cool./" Was all I could respond with, I really didn't want to go into any detail. Her intimacy was not a topic I wanted to discuss.
***********
We were half way through the week and it felt like a panic attack was due. School became less of a school and more of a social place. The halls were covered in banners and decorations that pointed out prom.
Luckily I found the perfect dress but shoes and hairstyle wise, I was still in the dark.
/"So who are you taking to prom?/" I asked Carl.
/"Well, since you're...unavailable./" He smirked. /"Im taking Chrissy./"
/"Oh./"
/"Oh what?/" He laughed.
/"Oh nothing, just oh./" I smiled.
Out of all the beautiful girls here, he choose Chrissy. Chrissy was the 'senior slut' or 'whore', which ever I felt like calling her that day.
I still remember the day Jason came and picked me up from school and Chrissy nearly broke a heel trying to get near him. I was in pure rage when I saw her so close to him. I punched her, sending her tumbling to the ground.
On the drive home, Jason laughed about how possessive I got. I just laughed at how her face turned a bright red when she hit the ground.
/"Shes not as bad as you would think./"
/"Humph!/" I smirked. /"Whatever you say./"
***********
School was over quickly since all the teachers could care less about actually giving us work.
I decided to head to the pack house for the day since all my work was done and I was missing Jason like crazy.
Stepping into the door, I was greeted with Maya's loud, annoyed voice.
/"I swear Im going to fucking kill you./" Was all I heard before the sound of glass shattering and pots and pans hitting the floor rung in my ears.
Keira and I walked into the kitchen just in time to see Maya tossing knives at Zeiden and Brent.
/"Ohhh this is getting good./" Keira leaned against the door frame.
/"STOP. STOP. STOP!/" I screeched.
Everyone stopped their movement and focused on me. My loud yelling caused a major migraine to me.
/"Whats going on?/" I sighed.
/"These fucking dip shits replaced my shampoo with hair dye./" She tossed the last knife toward Brent but luckily Zeiden caught it.
/"Well she put a piece of bologna in our game system./" Brent whined.
/"Look./" I sighed. I was starting to feel like the mother to two twin boys and a girl. /"You guys must get along, okay?/"
/"Fine./" Zeiden placed the knife on the kitchen island and began walking out with Brent.
Brent turned around and stuck his tongue out at her, and in return, Maya flipped them off. She huffed in annoyance and ran upstairs.
/"Well that was entertaining, I should have popcorn on stand by./" Keira laughed. I looked at her and gave her a 'are you serious?' face.
I picked up the knives that seemed to be everywhere from the floor to lodged into the wall.
/"Where the hell is Jason? Do he not hear all of this?/" I mumbled.
/"Who knows where he is./" Keira sighed.
Speak of the devil. Jason walked into the kitchen. His eyes red with bags under them. He looked tired and drained of all life.
/"Princess?/" He wrapped his arms around me, nearly weakening me with his touch.
/"Where were you?/" I questioned.
/"I had to handle some business love. Were you looking for me?/" A look of concern crossed his face. /"Are you okay?/"
/"Yes but your pack members wouldn't have been. Maya is going to kill one of them./"
/"Then let her./" He released me and walked over to the refrigerator. /"I would definitely pay to see them get their ass kicked by a girl./"
/"Seriously?/" I whined.
/"Fine./" He dragged as he pulled a bottle of water from the shelf. /"Ill talk to the guys. No more fighting, okay?/"
/"Okay./" I smiled cheerfully.
/"Now.../" He walked over to me and placed his arms on my waist. He leaned closer to me, placing his lips closer to my ear. /"Will you join me upstairs?/" He took my earlobe between his teeth, nibbling ever so gently, causing a faint moan to escape my lips.
/"Nope./" Even though it was a struggle to resist him, I managed to push him away before things got heated.
I ran out of the kitchen and up the stairs to check on Maya. I knocked on the door then walked in when she responded.
/"Are you okay?/"
/"No. Im not. My fucking hair is ruined./"
I couldn't see her hair since she kept it covered with a shower cap. I was curious.
/"It cant be that bad. Let me see./" She pulled the cap.
/"Oh./" Was my only response. I couldnt take my eyes away from her head. Her once full blonde hair was now merged with red. It was actually really cute. /"It actually looks good./"
/"Dont lie./"
/"Im serious. It gives you a bit of a wild side. Its sexy./"
/"Really?/"
/"Yeah./"
She took one last look at herself in the mirror. She smiled.
/"Now, finish getting dressed and I want you to come to the mall with me./"
/"Okay./"
**************
/"How about these?/" Maya held up a pair of pumps.
/"Hmmmm./" I picked up the shoe and examined it. /"Cute./"
/"Good./" She turned to the sales associate. /"Can we get a size seven in this?/"
/"Sure./" The woman took the shoe and walked in to the back.
I took a seat in one of the chairs as Maya followed. She looked a little uneasy due to her hair being a different color but she has been getting a lot of compliments on it. I wonder if people knew if was a stupid accident?
/"Maya, you guys need to stop fighting./"
/"Well tell those fuck faces to leave me alone./"
/"I will, but you have to promise too./"
/"Okay./" She huffed.
/"Good. But quick question. Did you really put bologna in their xbox?/"
/"NO!/" She huffed. /"It was salami./"
I couldn't help but laugh as she did too.
**********
The ride home from the mall was enjoyable. Laughter flooded the car as we thought about all the sick and twisted jokes Maya and the guys played on each other.
/"Remember when you gave Brent a buzz cut?/" I nearly cried from laughter.
/"He stayed in the house for almost two weeks./" She laughed.
/"Oh remember when they put food coloring in your body wash./"
/"That was NOT funny./" She frowned.
/"It was...hilarious./" I laughed again. /"You looked like a peach for day./"
/"Whatever. So are you ready for prom?/"
/"Yup. Just got to find the right soul to do my make-up and hair then Im all set./"
/"I can do it./" She offered.
/"You can?/"
/"Yup./"
/"Oh god thank you./" I jumped into her for a hug.
/"IM DRIVING DAMNIT./" She swerved around before she regained control of the car.
/"Oh sorry, sorry./"
*********
We walked into the pack house and immediately I was ambushed with kisses and hugs from Jason.
/"Umm hi?/" I laughed. /"Whats going on?/" I asked curiously.
/"Ive missed you./"
/"Oh get a room./" Maya whispered, forcing Jason to growl at her.
/"Sorry, sorry./"
Jason shot her few extra seconds of his evil glare then his eyes softened once he looked at me. He hugged and kissed me a few more times until I finally found a way to get out of his grip.
I pulled Maya up to her room and closed the door before Jason could find me and steal me away. Anxious and praying that my shoes and dress looked right together, I ran into my room and returned with my dress.
/"Looks good?/" I asked Maya as I sprawled my dress and shoes across the bed.
/"Looks great./" She smiled.
/"Good./" I cheered. /"Were you just as nervous as I'am for prom?/" Maya had graduated last year, putting her a little ahead of us.
/"Oh-um I didnt go to prom./"
/"What?/" I gasped dramatically. /"It better be a good reason?/"
/"Yeah. I had to bury my mother./"
My heart nearly sunk as my stomach clinched in nervousness. 'Oh' was the only words I could say but I really wanted to scream I'm sorry, Im so sorry Maya as I embrace her with a hug.
I felt horrible for bringing up such a traumatic, heart stopping event. I could only imagine her pain, her heart being torn to shreds as they buried her mother.
/"Im sorry Maya./"
/"Its fine Aniyah./" I could see the hurt she tried so desperately to cover with a smile. /"Now lets figure out what we are going to do with your hair./"
