The beginning

Yue City.

Salt High. 12 March xx

"Are you sure about your decision student?"

A teacher with round glasses asked a student.

"Yeah. I have martial talent and I want to be a Martial Master."

The student replied with seriousness.

"But your martial talent isn't high... are you using this to cope with the death of your family...?"

The teacher took out her glasses and looked at the student in front of her.

He was her most useless student.

Never got any good results, wasn't athletic and most of all, looked at her without any hint of respect.

She always hated his gaze that seemed to look at her as an equal.

The student looked at her and slowly said.

"There are 600 students in the whole school and I am the 9th person in the school to have martial talent. 9/600."

"And I have talent, doesn't matter if it's low or high, till the time I have the martial talent, I can be a Martial Master, my qualifications are already proven."

The surrounding teachers looked at the face of the student with ridicule written on their eyes.

"I never said you can't do it student Yan, I asked if you are sure about it or not. A simple yes would have been enough. Here's the form, submit it by the end of day."

The teacher presented a form to the student.

"And do you have a guardian or someone else to sign the official paperworks instead of your parents?"

The student took the form and began to fill it out in front of her. A few seconds later, he gave the form to the teacher with his answer.

"I don't."

The teacher took the form and checked it.

Hmm.

"Your name's Shi Yan, right? Why did you write something else here?"

The teacher asked as she looked at the name that he wrote. It wasn't the name of the student in front of her.

How could she forget the name of the most useless person in her class?

"Ah, I might have mixed it. Let me change it."

The student bent over and corrected the name on the form.

The form that was on the teacher's desk.

By bending over just beside her.

In front of the other staff.

"Student Shi Yan. PERSONAL SPACE!!"

The teacher took a second to register the fact that a student just got this close to her and then her mind exploded with rage.

"Sorry, I thought you would scoot over there but you didn't."

Shi Yan politely said while taking a step back.

"I have completed the form."

Shi Yan bowed down and went out of the office in the weird gazes of other staff members.

"Are you fine Miss Ye?"

Some asked the teacher.

"I am. Sometimes I fucking hate this job."

The teacher forcefully calmed down and suppressed her bitter feelings. She still had to do her job to feed herself.

"We get you Miss Ye. Students nowadays are getting too out of hand now."

Some one said.

"But what can we do? He has martial talent, we are just normal people, even if a commotion occurred, no one would take our side. Even if we are right. Didn't you heard about incident with the principal a month ago."

The colleague beside him chimed.

"Plus look at the guts of that kid, saying 9/600 even though only the 200 students in the third grade took the martial awakening ceremony. A true troublemaker indeed."

"It still is a fact that he has the martial talent, others don't."

"But isn't it unfair?"

"And what about it? Plus with his talent, he can only be accepted into third grade martial universities, maybe even that is impossible considering his academic abilities are close to none."

"Wasn't he one of the students whose parents died in the terrorist attack two days ago though? I remember his face in the government aide list that the officials asked us yesterday."

"You mean his parents were a part of the 16000 people that died in the attacks."

"Yeah, not just his parents but his whole family. They were gathered to celebrate the acceptance of his cousin to a good Martial University and then they all died except him."

"Ohh, how did you know? By the way how did he survive, looking at him, he definitely isn't the athelete to somehow run away from them?"

"He stayed at home."

"Huh?"

"He refused to attend the gathering and stayed cooped in his house. His parents and other family members went to have a joyful time and the tragedy occurred."

"He sure is lucky then."

"But ..."

"Nope,....."

"The government hasn't taken....."

And the whole staff went into an uproar as they discussed and ranted about the various problems of their life and the feeble society.

Miss Ye ignored all that and looked at the form on her desk.

She took the form and ripped it up.

"Haah. I hate this guy."

She took a deep breath and took out another form and filled it with his information and signed as his guardian.

There was no need to as his orphan status didn't require him to have a guardian but having one did increased his chances of admittance.

"Haah, I really hate this guy."

She muttered once again as she remembered the good for nothing student who had never did anything on his own accord.

Now that same kid wanted something. Although it was a ridiculous dream, it didn't matter to her.

She would get a commission and pay raise for each student with martial talent that she was responsible for.

"Although this guy refused the direct admissions a month ago."

Miss Ye recalled the martial activation ceremony and how he had refused to be a Martial Master by saying it's useless.

"Should I write a letter of apology to the invigilator? That kid did run his mouth without thinking."

Miss Ye pondered as she took out a paper and began writing.

...

Grade 3 Class 6

After giving the form to the teacher Ye, Shi Yan left the teacher's area and came to his classes.

He was an academic student and had already given his denial for the Martial Master admissions.

The reason was simple, he never planned nor wanted to become a Martial Master.

All he wanted was a normal life where he used his eloquent skills of his past life to make a good earning and marry someone and have kids while enjoying his life peacefully.

Yeah, he was reincarnated.

"But that was then and now it had changed."

He looked at the direction of the blackboard and onto the poster that was displaying some handsome and attractive people posing in silly poses.

"Hmmm, Yan Yan is staring at the poster of the God Yu. Are you interested in them?"

A voice came beside him with its owner. A fatty. Shi Yan looked at the fatty from the side of his eyes and ignored him.

The fatty felt the cold attitude of Shi Yan. He still smiled towards him, although awkwardly.

"You know, God Yu is an incredible actor, singer and a Martial Lord. He is also liked by everyone and you know what, I heard that he is always~ alwaaaays surrounded by girls who would let him do everything, EVERYTHING! Lucky him."

Fatty said excitedly, his voice nearly turning into shouting and his words arousing the attention of nearly all the people in the class.

"You can be like him as well. Although you are not handsome, can't sing well, have a rude personality, doesn't respect elders and, and you are lazy, brutish and poor and... I mean you have martial talent. You can be a Martial Lord like God Yu and then you can have what he has."

The fatty ignored the class and kept talking to Shi Yan about the benefits of being a Martial Master.

"I meant not the girls he had but different girls, and riches and good food, luxurious houses and respect, yeah that as well, you will get the respect of everyone around you (till the time they are junior to you in rank though)."

the fatty suddenly put his hand over the shoulders of Shi Yan and asked in a slow voice.

"So what are your thoughts? Wanna be a Martial Master?"

The fatty said this in an almost pleading tone but Shi Yan ignored him and kept staring at the poster. The fatty waited for a few minutes and slowly turned around to leave in a slouching manner.

The classmates looked at the fatty and felt a bit of glee in their hearts.

The students never liked the fatty to begin with and his incessant talks with Shi Yan was arousing hate and disgust throughout the whole class.

'Showing off just because you have martial talent?'

'Why is he acting like a princess just because he was lucky? It's not like he had done anything to achieve it.'

'Why does he have it?'

'The god is unfair.'

And the most common of all: Why is this fatty rubbing the fact that they don't have martial talent everytime he gets to?

The students of Class 6 grade 3 were both envious and jealous at the fact that even scum like Shi Yan could have an opportunity to become a Martial Master and then the goddam fatty who was always bringing it to their face.

The class never thought that they were worse than Shi Yan and it was true as well. They weren't.

To be precisely, in the whole grade 3, Shi Yan ranked last, both academically and athletically.

It felt like a disgrace to the whole class 6 that he was the one who had martial talent to become a Martial Master.

Like who didn't wanted to become a Martial Master. It was a dream of many.

Any one who can become one will have riches, luxury, respect, admiration and POWER. Power to reign above others. Power to decide what they want with their life.

It was the epitome of a chance that could turn the life of anyone, from a beggar to a king.

""And it wasn't the turbulent times to begin in.""

Unlike in the past where the Martial Master's were only used in armies and to fend of the otherworldlers, now they could become anything, be it a chef or an Actor, Singer and Producer like God Yu or even a house maid.

The times had changed and with it came the freedom of choice.

And yet, the disgrace Shi Yan, in front of the whole school and the invigilators who took the Martial Master's examinations, refused to become one.

Not only that, he even made fun of the invigilator of the Martial Master's examination because he was bald and his wig slipped.

At that time, the principal of the Salt High had to personally come over and apologize to the invigilator. Although it was deemed as a rumour.

Later on the same day, Shi Yan was suspended for a week for his behaviour.

So he didn't come to school for a month.

That day was actually the first time he came after a month and the peaceful atmosphere of the class had already destroyed by just his presence.

Shi Yan ignored the murmurings of his classmates, he also ignored the fatty and the surroundings. All his mind went to the memories of his past life and his death.

He had woken up to this world nearly 10 years ago as a child named Shi Yan and from then on had lived as Shi Yan.

Shi Yan had a kind and mute father and a strict and crafty mother with a little sister who took after his mother.

He also had a childhood friend and many relatives.

Now they are no more.

For the new Shi Yan, life was going good. He got the relaxing life that he had always wanted and he wanted it to continue forever.

He enjoyed everyday to his fullest, so much that he never planned to even go to school or study, declaring it a waste of money and time and true it was.

But his parents never listened and here he was.

"They should have listened to me when I said not to go to the gathering."

"Maybe I am a bad luck to my surroundings, be it this world or my previous one."

"And I should have just died without knowing because now, I just want to ravage...."

"Wake up."

Shi Yan came out of his stupor when he heard the voice of Miss Ye.

"Tea time's over. Now get out of the class."

Teacher Ye calmly stood in front of Shi Yan who was staring into her eyes, making her uncomfortable.

"Okay."

He got up and left the class. The whole class just looked at him and finally felt like things had returned to normal.

"It's not like your voice won't reach me."

"Now take out your books and let's start the lessons."

As if on cue, her voice reverberated outside the classroom.

"She speaks really loudly. Her voice is cute though. I can finally sleep in peace now."

Shi Yan mumbled and he went to sleep while standing. He indeed like the voice of Miss Ye because it made him sleepy everytime he listened to it.

It was like the perfect lullaby, practically doing its work in less than a minute.

He even recorded quite a lot of it in the name of studies but those were destroyed by mother Shi because she thought her child had gone astray.

...

This is an apology.

Sorry 😞

I... can't say I will try my best or I won't do it again. I want to I really can't. Life is really weird.

Bye.

Only the Blue Silver Grass readers will understand.
