Blood taker

A week later.

In an small apartment complex in the suburbs in Yue City.

Teacher Ye took some deep breaths before knocking on the door of Shi Yan.

Nothing happened.

Five minutes later, she knocked on the door again but this time, the knock was louder.

A minute later, a half nude man opened the door in his underpants.

"MANNERS YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!"

That day, a voice reverberated throughout the whole apartment complex.

Some time later.

A fully dressed Shi Yan was calmly sitting beside the seething Teacher Ye, on the same sofa, just a few inches besides her.

She looked at him in anger with her chest heaving up and down. Shi Yan on the other hand was watching some soap opera on the TV.

"Student Shi Yan... Forget it. Just tell me, are you going to skip your exams? Yes or no?"

She finally asked after the episode ended.

"Yes."

Shi Yan casually answered.

"Okay. That's it."

She got up and left the apartment.

"Not my fault when there is only one sofa."

Shi Yan whispered while looking at her from the balcony. She was stomping her legs quite hard onto something.

"Is that how an helpless ant feels?"

A quiet whisper as he moved away from the balcony and onto his living room.

4:45.

He looked at the clock and went towards the kitchen to find something to eat.

"My uniform was to be delivered today. I have to buy a martial technique as well."

Yan thought while chewing on some dried instant noodles and booked a cab for the nearest Martial Union branch near him.

He went towards his study desk and took out his bank card. It has all his savings, be it his families total fortune or the compensation from the government.

"Let's make it useful."

6 hours later.

He got out of the cab and weakly went to the Martial Union branch, the six hour ride had made his waist and leg nearly paralyzed.

He looked around him and it was quite desolate and smaller that he imagined. The Martial Union branch that is.

He entered the lounge and went to the reception.

The receptionist looked at him and then shouted at someone.

"You customer is here. Looks like he took a cab."

Yan looked at the direction of the voice and saw the blood taker Martial Union official from before.

"You weren't at home, here is your parcel from the Shen Hai University. Please sign here."

The official instantly appeared in front of Yan while giving him a feet by feet box.

"So what are you here for?"

The official asked while Yan was signing. The box was quietly placed beside his feet.

"To buy a martial technique."

Yan replied after signing.

The official looked at him and asked.

"You didn't read the guide that was in the box, right?"

"No, it was too long."

Yan replied.

"Give your Martial Master Identification card?

The official said.

Yan looked at him and took out his card.

"So you haven't. Don't be scared."

The official took Yan's card and slit Yan's wrist. A gush of blood started falling from the wound as Yan immediately tried to yank his hand from the official.

Except he failed as no matter how much strength he put, his hand didn't move an inch.

The official calmly placed Yan's card below his wrist and let the blood flow into it.

The card began to absorb the blood from Yan's wound and began to transform.

"Don't take this card as a joke like the normal ID card. This is a Martial Master's ID card, forged from his blood and countless other precious material and advanced technologies."

"This card of yours, once fully awakened, can be used to access the internet, send emergency signals, make calls be it facetime or voice call to even miscellaneous things like watching movies, reading books, accessing maps or to just play games. This card is the only communication device that you will need in the Great Blue."

"Till the time you have this card, you don't need to pay anything in any of the government transport, be it land, air or water. You are even allowed a 30% discount in all hotels and resorts that come under the area of this country."

"And this isn't even the tip of the iceberg. So remember it once again. Go and read the manual properly."

The official began speaking while the blood was being absorbed by the card.

"I will."

Yan said calmly although the shaking of his hands properly explained his inner turmoil.

"The reason why we need a drop of blood from the students is to create a card that is only respondents to them. Generally it requires a drop of blood but students with low talent like you requires higher amounts of blood."

"From the freshly taken blood from the host, the card is forged along with some spiritual metals that you aren't qualified to know now."

"When the card is given to the students, they have to use a drop of blood to link the card to themselves. Just call it as making the card a part of you and the spiritual metals play a part in it."

"But there is a catch. A freshly made card requires a really low amount of blood due to the fact that it is a weak artifact. The more the time passes, the more the amount of blood is required."

"Do you know why? Because this card is a semi-living object. It grows with you, inside you, as a parasite while granting you a device that is basically a phone, a computer, a tv and a bank and much more."

"This card will become a virtual self of you and your soul identity. So what do you need to do?"

"Read the guide completely." [Yan]

"Good. But since we have already came to this, let me summarise some of the most useful things that you can do with this. Since this is taking a lot of time anyways."

"One, the card is an access point to the Martial net, a type of internet only available to the Martial Masters like us."

"In the Martial net, you can buy anything be it cheap magazines to entire countries. Till the time it is available and you have the monetary wealth, it's yours."

"Second, Soul Bank; the card also acts as your bank account and this is the only account that you will ever need as a Martial Master, it's anonymous, allows bank transfer from anywhere on the world to anyone on the world, without any tranfer fees or hidden charges."

"You can also use it in any ATM throughout the whole world. No charges."

"This account is connected to your bloodline so in case you died, all your wealth will be saved and then be transferred to the next person that has a relation to you and is a martial awakened person, take you as an example."

"So if you died and some generations later, if some boy/girl awakened her/his Martial talent and is related to you by blood, all your wealth will be transferred to her/him."

"And the most important function of all, 24/7 available customer service that responds to any of your queries in 10 seconds. Be it fraud, technical support, user guide, how to invest and anything related to banking. They will get to you in less than 10 seconds."

"Now third, Special Privileges. This card allows you quite a lot of special Privileges ranging from medical to politics, even art and media. Till the time you have this card, you will get additional 50% pay for any normal job that you did in any normal profession, even military."

"Your chances for promotion and increment are also higher than others. Lastly, you will get free housing, free internet, free basic utilities like electricity, water and gas and lastly you will get 40 percent discount on any merchandise, accessory or equipment that you buy through any of the physical store. Only in this country though."

"Just how weak is your talent that this hasn't been completed in nearly five minutes of continuous blood feeding."

The official stopped and looked at the card which was still sucking up the blood like a leech that has never drunk.

Yan on the other hand was becoming paler as moments passed. He chose to silently listen and save his remaining strength to stay alive.

"So fourth, this card can record your vitals and all but this functions will be clearly taught in great detail at your university so let's leave it at that."

"And next time, take a spirit cab, use your card and book one. It will come to your door and pick you up from anywhere in this country. Master Apprentices like you are allowed 15 free rides every month. Don't try to find a soul cab with your eyes though as they have a camouflage technology added to them to avoid the sight of public."

"Those cabs usually fly in the air and only Martial Masters can sense them. Finally finished."

The Martial Union official finally stopped talking as he sealed the wound on Yan's wrist and threw him to the nearby sofa.

Not gently at all though.

The silver and gold tinted card turned into a bright red card with silver and golden pattern while the name and the picture of Yan disappeared. So did his information.

The only thing remained was an emblem. His emblem, a sign that belonged to only him.

"This kid's stupid or stubborn?"

The Martial Union official said while placing the card on Yan's forehead.

The card melted like snow on Yan's head and disappeared.

"Deliver it to his home. I am going to sleep there."

The receptionist said while taking two big boxes of jumbo sized instant ramen and poured some water in it.

"Okay."

The Martial Union official disappeared from his place after saying that. A few seconds later, he appeared and sat down to wait for the ramen to be done.

The figure of Yan and his parcel had disappeared from the lounge as well.

"But really, the stupidity of the young generation never cease to amaze me."

The official said.

"Talk politely. He is our only physical customer in the past five months. The others just ordered from their homes and wait for us to deliver their stuff."

The receptionist chided.

"Yeah, the people nowadays have become too spoiled due to the recent innovations in household technologies. They even ask for medical attention and all FROM THERE HOME."

The official said.

"Well it's not bad per say. Ignorance is a bliss and they should be blissful till the end of their lives because only a happy environment can give birth to a kind heart. We really need people with innocence and kindness, doesn't matter if they are dumbos like the previous customer but having a few amusing people is always better than having one mother ducker around."

Soon their ramen was done and they began to eat it while watching a teen drama. It was quite liked by the normal people.

"But teen dramas really put some unrealistic scenarios in them, don't you think? Like I have never walked into a girl changing clothes and got out of it without having my hands or legs broken.

The receptionist said while slurping his noodles. The Blood taker remained silent.
