Lucky

In an small apartment complex in the suburbs.

Yan took out the contents of the envelope and spread it out on his bed.

'One application form for the college/University of my choosing.'

'One application to apply for my Martial apprentice ID.'

'One application form to apply for army.'

'One application form to apply to the Martial secret services(?).'

'Lastly one page with the information of how to fill the other forms.'

[Dear student Shi Yan of Salt High school, Yue City. Your application to become a Martial Master has been accepted.

We have sent relegated forms for you. Decide whatever you want to be and fill the form and submit it with a drop of your blood. You can review the info page on how to complete the rest of the forms.

The form submission date was 1 March. We have concluded that you have submitted your acceptance application quite late and henceforth had changed the date to 13 March for your convenience.

Please note that this day is the final date and no further changes will be applied to it.

( It would be appreciated if you deliver the form before the submission date.)

Thanks for becoming a part of the Martial Path.

From Chen Wang,

Chief of Martial Master Admission Bureaucracy Zone 7. ]

Yan took a look at the letter and threw it into the garbage.

"Let's submit the application form today. Thankfully the Martial Union is open 24/7 according to the media."

Shi Yan carefully read the info page and filled the university application form and Martial apprentice Identification form accordingly.

He double checked both of the forms, put a passport size picture of him in them and took a few picture proof with his cell.

He then called the number that was given on the info page and gave them his nearby address.

According to the info page, an employee of the Martial Union will come to pick up his documents and he just needed to take a picture proof of it in case of any mishappening.

The rest of the stuff will be taken care of by the Martial Union. They will pick up his application forms, assess it and then send the reply in 20 hours.

They were quite proficient.

15 minutes later.

Yan gave his application forms and a drop of blood to the Martial Union officer who landed a few steps away from him.

The officer took the envelope and took a fresh bottle of blood from Yan's body and flew away.

"A pre-prepared drop of blood doesn't count. Seems logical."

Yan rubbed his sore arm as he looked at the disappearing dot at the sky. It was the Martial Union officer who took his blood.

One hour later.

Yan was lying on his bed when he got a knock on his door. He peeped through the door hole and it was the same Martial Union officer who took his blood sometime ago.

"Your package."

Yan opened the door and took the small pizza sized box from the official.

"Inside it is your Martial Master Identification Card. Your current status is of a martial apprentice. Read the benefits that you are entitled to."

"Once you have ranked up from your current status, make sure to submit a review for the status update to the Martial Union."

"Here is your acceptance form from the University of your choosing."

The Martial Union official said as he gave a new envelope to Yan. He said some congratulatory words and vanished from his sight.

"Show off."

Yan looked at the box with the insignia of Martial Union and then at the University envelope.

He gently closed the door and went to his room and tore the box open.

Inside it was an exquisite looking card forged with silver and gold with his picture on it.

"Show off."

The card read:

[Shi Yan

Martial Apprentice

Shen Hai University]

That's it. There was 'no name - Shi Yan' or others.

There was no need to. It was made for the Martial Union and Martial Masters only.

They were the only ones that needed it. So the ones that knew knew, those who didn't know, didn't need to know.

He checked the back and it was blank albiet it had some form of inscription on it.

Yan put the card in his pocket and carefully tore the envelope containing his university approval application.

He took it out and it only had two pages.

One had a simple calligraphy of 'Jígé' and the other had a list of essential that he had to gain from the respective department of the University and his enrollment date. Along with a site to submit his body measurements and preferred uniform choices so that the university can prepare them before his enrollment date.

Which was September 1 by the way.

Yan looked at the page with a big 'Jígé'.

"A waste of paper."

He cleanly folded the paper and kept it in his desk drawer.

Now he just needed to go and start his classes on September 1.

As for stuff like school exams and all.

Students who had Martial talent were given a choice to skip and all because, as per the government, students with martial talents would like to focus more on their training while utilising the precious time that they have.

Hence, instead of wasting that time on useless academic knowledge, something that they can easily memorize in a day when they are in the higher ranks, they should focus on improving themselves.

The government made it a choice since many for those honor grubbing students wanted to achieve higher ranks before they entered Universities.

They even supported those students by providing various 'freebies' because if the students have the ability to be ahead of others in the present, then there future is boundless.

A quote that was widespread among the honor students.

Yan wasn't someone who cared for honor though and had already decided to skip the exams altogether.

As for his university extrance exams, it was already taken a 1 month ago when he was deemed qualified to join the colleges.

He was even given direct admissions on that same day. Not just him but all 9 of them were given the opportunity to apply for their preferred colleges/universities and if the spots were open, they can directly get admitted into the uni then and there. The other 8 did.

Except a certain someone had rejected his admission and hence had to go through the trouble of re-applying through his school.

"Quite lucky? Ain't I?"

[Jígé means to pass a text, exam. Tōngguò also means the same but they are slightly differently.]

[Yeah, I am learning Chinese.]

[By my own]

Bye.
