(Regina's POV)
My hands were shaking as I waited for them patiently until they reached, and thankfully the man I spoke to earlier came down with some men. They looked around with expressionless face. They were bulky and their expressionless faces were reducing my confident, but I tried to remain calm since this was the only way out.
"Good day sir?" I said, trying to get his attention as he became busy with his men.
"Good day miss…" he trailed off and waited for me to complete it.
"Regina," I said almost immediately.
He nodded, smiling amusingly. "So how can I be of help, miss Regina?"
I gulped and looked around. "I was hoping to talk to you more calmly than last time."
"Of course… So?"
"Umm… I," I looked around with a confused look. I was trying to fix the words in a more polite way. "I want to speak to your boss," I said and sighed.
He was taken aback but nodded. "I'm uncertain if I can say the same for my boss because he hates getting annoyed."
I nodded my head while making a mental note not to annoy him. "So, please, can I speak to him?"
He looked at me for sometime before nodding his head and walking towards the car. My heart started beating faster than normal, and I slowly placed my hand on it.
He knocked on the glass and spoke briefly before stepping back. I became curious as to why he was moving back until the car door flew open and someone stepped out. My eyes went straight to the pair of polished shoes and up to the strong legs that were entrapped in black trouser. My eyes crawled upwards to the broad shoulders and then to the neck that made me swallow deeply.
Before I could realize it, he was already closer to him, and I gradually raised my head to look at the face of the person in front of me. My heart beat increased, and I already felt stressed but when my gaze fell on the man in front of me, I wanted to collapse in shock, and maybe I was indeed falling because I felt an arm around my waist, holding me up.
I gulped again when I couldn't tear my gaze away from the face. The handsome and cold look made me tense and unable to utter a word. The fair skin that gleamed under the harsh sunlight. My eyes studied every feature of his handsome face, the straight and pointed nose, and his small lizard shaped lips. My eyes went up to stare at the blue eyes that got me in a trance.
Was it possible for anyone to look this way? I asked inwardly. I was rendered speechless by the look this man possessed. Not only that, but I forgot everything I wanted to say and focused on the man's beauty.
The way his eyes stared back into my soul made my heart skip a beat. I watched him closely and noticed when he raised a questioning brow at me.
I creased my face lightly upon seeing it.
"Why did you call for me?" His voice was deep and soft at the same time, almost like a caressing to my skin and…
"Are you going to speak or not?" He hissed, sounding upset.
"Huh?" I shook my head. "Ye… yes. I wanted to talk to you about something..." what was it again? Ahh, yes! "I want to talk about what you did-" he sighed, cutting me off.
"I don't have the time for this," he muttered and attempted to walk away.
"Well you have to… You can't possibly take away our home from us. Look at those children and women, they have nowhere to go, and the street isn't an option." I said, pointing over to the women and the children. I just badly wanted to reason with him.
He turned to look at them with no form of sympathy in his eyes. He gazed at them like he saw nothing. "Well it seems like it's now an option."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I couldn't believe that someone could be this heartless. Suddenly, I felt disgusted by him, and any amazement I had was gone.
"You don't mean that," I muttered weakly, my face had a shocked expression.
He raised his brow. "And how would you know?"
"I gave you time but no one stuck to it, and now I give you all three hours to leave here or there'll be more to face." He warned and turned around. I panicked as I looked for what to say to stop him.
"How about we do something else? There's no need for violence."
He paused and remained that way with his back facing me.
"I can give you the land completely. You'll have every right to do whatever you want with it."
We stood in silence, and I wasn't concerned with the people around us.
"What did you say?" He asked as he turned around slowly.
I raised my chin. "I'm sure you heard me."
He narrowed his gaze at me which somehow made me feel small, but I didn't show it.
"And how can you do that?"
"My father owns this land."
"You mean owned because it's mine already." He corrected, and I clenched my fists when I heard his claim.
"But we will never let you have it just like that," I said with arrogance.
"Who? These people look tired of life?"
"Well they would never agree to you having this place, whether tired or not."
He looked interested. "So you want to give me this place?"
I nodded while keeping his intense gaze.
"How?" He asked flatly.
"Well I'm sure you know the word called marriage and what comes with it," I stated.
"Hmm," he hummed and nodded slowly. I tried to read his expression, but it was deceiving.
"So what do you say?"
"You want me to marry you," he said amusingly, but his face showed no sign of him taking it as a joke.
"Yes, but in exchange for the people staying." I said.
He frowned, but I showed no hint of worry even though I felt like pleading with him.
"So?" I asked after a while of silence. He raised his head and I saw the look I least expected from him.
