Startling And Spellbinding

(Daniel's POV

"Yes, he married recently to a lady."

I wasn't interested in knowing her background because it was obvious that she was either nobody or was from a middle-class family.

"Boss," my assistant leaned closer. "I also heard that your brother brought havoc in her hometown. I also got the information that he wanted the land for the project he is currently working on."

So, her hometown was a perfect place to do his project? Sounds just like him.

"He killed almost all the villagers just to obtain the land. But why she married him is what I don't understand."

That also seemed confusing to me. Just why did he marry her then if he could beat half of them to death? Why couldn't he just beat her to death if she made it hard for him to do his project? Besides, he was known to be heartless for a reason.

"But from what I got, I read from an article that he was being rushed to start the project, so if he was being rushed, then I guess he had no choice, especially if they kept retaliating."

"I am not convinced that is," I said, placing my hand under my chin.

"Boss? Why do you disagree?"

"Because it's obvious that they got married after he killed her people. So, if that might be the case, then she must've foreseen the death that awaits them and that was more reason why she married him. She had no choice, and she was afraid, but I don't know, though. I mean, one must have a reason to be afraid and even though Daniel gave her a reason to, I still don't see why."

"What do you mean, boss?"

"I guess she was scared, but she could still escape from there, and there was no reason to get married to him. Except…"

"Except she couldn't escape for a reason, that was why her thoughts resulted to that." Peter concluded.

Derek nodded slowly. "Exactly, there's only two things I can think of that could've promoted such ideas in her head."

"And what are they?"

"It Is either she did it because she was left with no other option, or she was just like every other lady that just wants to get their hands on a rich man."

"So you mean she did it for money," Peter nodded.

"And maybe because she had no choice. But let's not forget Daniel. You know, no woman can deceive just to get a luxury life, he is smarter than that and even though she did it for money or not, his motive and intention for allowing and agreeing to it is what matters a lot."

Peter blinked his eyes, and it was funny to see him looking surprised. Unlike his usual self that was all about seriousness and maturity, now he looked entirely different from that image he built over the years. Now, he looked like a list kid who was finally directed to the right path that was rather familiar to him.

"You're really just like they say you're" he complimented, blurting out the words. It sounded so foreign to my ears because the man I knew was clearly not who I was sitting with.

"I know, but we should focus more on Mike and find a solution to the problem."

"Boss, I think the best way to get him is by pretending like we have no idea about what he is up to. I think that would fool him for now while we try to sell the drugs on time." He suggested.

"That's a great idea, though why fool him? And why is he trying to hack the system when he can just block the way to disrupt our distribution?"

"It's obviously because he wants to get the information about our delivery, to know who and where we are distributing to. He wants a definite location and a reliable source of whom we're delivering to. He wants something accurate instead of going all about, looking for our next place of delivery."

"I think that makes sense, but Mike isn't stupid and very soon he would notice that we know. Being silent and calm about someone trying to hack our system just makes it unbelievable, especially if we don't react. So, it's better we try to act normal about the situation than to play it cool. Let's attempt to add more security to every delivery, maybe then he would think we know, but we don't know who."

"Alright boss," Peter nodded.

We heard a sound from upstairs and our gaze immediately went up.

Rachael! What was she up to this time around? And what was that sound?

"What was that? Or was it one of the men?"

"How would I know? Set up a meeting with Mr. Martin, he still yet to pay, and you know what I do to people like him. I hate when someone wait my time, so make sure he pays or Draco kills him. He pays, or he dies, that was the deal."

"Okay boss. What else should I do?"

"Just set the meeting for now."

Another sound came from upstairs. I had to know what was going on with that girl.

"Boss?"

"Just go, I'll check on things."

He nodded before standing while dressed in his suit jacket. He bowed slightly and then walked away.

I turned my gaze upstairs with a frown. I stood up gradually then walked upstairs. I walked to her room, hoping she was actually there because I was sure she must've attempted to run as usual.

I opened the door slowly to the room and peeked in. The room was dim, and I could hardly see a thing inside. I closed the door behind me and promptly walked inside carefully, not ready for a sneak attack. My hand went to the wall as I searched for the light switch.

I found it and switched it on. My eyes widened when my gaze landed on the catastrophe. The mess was displeasing to the eyes, but where was she?

The room was a mess, but there was no sign of her. But then I heard a loud sound from inside the bathroom, and then a scream came. Without thinking twice, I rushed over and pulled the door open, only to wish I hadn't because the view in front of me was startling and spellbinding. I just couldn't look away, however the next thing that happened was rather unexpected, and I found myself momentarily paralyzed.
