~Chapter 2~

"The first victim is Vanessa Smith. She's 23 years old and an art student. She was murdered with an ax. She was stabbed in the back and her chest, stabs that caused her death, after which the criminal kept making cuts on her body until she was fully covered with them, which explains why she lost so much blood. The second victim is Lili Miller, 27 years old, lawyer, married, and...she was pregnant. She has severe injuries on the back of her head and abdomen, but the cause of the death wasn't that. She was strangled. The third victim is Grace Williams, 25 years old and just graduated college. But with her… the serial killer took it to a whole other level. Cause of death: blood loss. This psycho dismembered her while she was alive…"

With a sigh, Juwon put down the files and covered each one of the bodies with the white and soft material.

"Why such a drastic change with the last victim? It doesn't make sense. Just what is he thinking? What was he planning? What could be the next move?"

"Those are really good questions Sehun, but sadly I have no clue. Each criminal has its own way of thinking so I can't just assume. And you know that very well, that's why you are not assuming anything either."

Sehun rolled his eyes and turned around, ready to leave. Before he closed it he could hear the older saying "See? That's what I was talking about earlier!".

By earlier the older probably meant this morning since it's so late. That late that even Juwon was leaving in a few minutes. He saw all his things were already packed. But unlike the others, he was planning to stay for some longer. It's not like he had anything else to do. It's not like anyone was waiting for him at home.

With lazy steps, he went all the way back to his office and went straight to the big windows. The city looked so calm that it was almost hard to believe that people were killing and hurting each other out there. He looked up, seeing that the sky was covered in a blanket full of little and sparkling stars. It was beautiful and unlike last night, the sky was clear, not even a cloud could be seen. Every time he looked up at the sky he felt small for some reason. But just in that case, he didn't mind it. Because the sky was far away, it couldn't hurt him. His thoughts were interrupted by the annoying buzzing noise that his phone was making. As he looked at the ID caller he sigh and pressed the green button.

"Haneul, why are you calling me?"

"Oh hi! I'm fine, thanks for asking."

Oh, and Sehun could swear his friend was rolling his eyes in annoyance.

"Pack your things and come out. You promised me you'll drive me home!"

"Me? When did I say tha-"

Damn it. So that's what he agreed to when they were having lunch a few hours ago. That's what he gets for not paying attention when people talk to him…

"I'll be there in 5"

And with that, Sehun ended the call and packed the few things he needed to take home. As he got downstairs he felt 2 arms wrap around him protectively, pulling him close. Knowing there was no point in fighting it, he let himself sink in the welcoming warmth. He could hear soft giggles as Haneul patted his head.

"There's no better way to end the day than with a hug. Hugs are the best!"

Sehun couldn't help but smile a little bit and thankfully nobody saw it. With a soft push, he took a step back and looked at the older.

"Yeah, yeah. Yet there's no need to yell in my ear."

"I wasn't yelling in your ear, I was just spreading love. This world needs it".

That being said, Haneul started to walk towards the car like it was his own.

-------- -------

After almost 15 minutes he opened the front door to his house. What was he going to do now? He was too lazy to go back to the office and he couldn't work because he forgot the files on his desk. He wasn't hungry either so he decided to change into some comfortable clothes and watch a movie or something. That being said, after a quick shower he put on some clothes that were maybe too big for him and went to the kitchen to prepare some snacks and something to drink. When he got everything that he needed, he placed everything on the coffee table in front of the big couch and covered himself with a blanket.

Fifteen minutes had already passed and he couldn't concentrate. His mind was constantly on the case. Maybe it looked like he didn't care but it was stressing him out. He never worked on such a case before nor had he heard of something similar. But the department was already stressed and nervous because of all this so he really needed to keep his calm at least in front of the others.

Honestly, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on in that person's mind. Nothing he did was normal. It makes him wonder if they should send him to jail or some mental hospital. Both would be a big help for that psycho. Only if he could find an answer to his question… That would be so useful. That would help him get somewhere, it would help him make an idea of what the next move could be…

And the next day he didn't feel any better. As he got out of his car that morning the director called him saying that they needed to talk urgently. And just as he guessed, they talked about the case. As if it wasn't hard enough to deal with everything that's been going on, the director told him that it was becoming harder day by day to keep it from the public. And that was bad. If they found out about it they would panic and they didn't know what the consequences could be. I mean yeah, people would be more careful and they wouldn't go out that much but what would be the criminal's reaction? What would he do? Would he kill even more people? Would he stop?

After the discussion with the director, Sehun couldn't stay still and went to the place where the last crime happened: an abandoned factory. Everything was the same way as when he left the first time which means that nobody went there since they discovered the body or whoever decided to pay a visit after the police left was being really careful.

And even if it was around noon, that place was pretty dark and dirty. Weirdly, since he set foot in that place, he felt eyes on him constantly, like he was being observed, watched. But he did look around and saw no one. Trying to ignore the feeling that was bothering him quite much, he went to a smaller room in that factory, where he supposed the murder actually happened since there was a surgery table covered in blood. Everything looked like a scene in a horror movie, maybe even worse. The only thing that lit up the room was a small lamp that looked old. The painting on the wall was almost fully taken off and the ceiling looked like it could fall anytime. A shiver ran down his back the moment he felt like someone was breathing on the back of his neck. For a moment he didn't dare to move. It was like his body was paralyzed. After taking a few deep breaths he quickly turned around but saw no one. He didn't know if he should feel alarmed or revealed. After quickly scanning the area, he turned around with a sigh but he almost choked on the air when he saw a tall man standing in front of him. His long, blonde hair was styled and his eyes were shining while looking at him. The clothes that he was wearing were definitely expensive.

"I have to admit that you are quite courageous, but reckless at the same time. Coming here, all alone...That's foolish but I respect you. From your reaction, you weren't expecting me to be here. Oh! By the way, do you like this place? Even though it's a small room, this is where I create art. You know...the 3 that you took away from me. I'm still mad about it."

And as the murderer in front of him kept talking he couldn't bring himself to say a word. How can he say those words so easily? But what was he expecting? He was talking to a psycho after all. And that's why he couldn't let his guard down. Things could turn out really bad anytime if he didn't pay attention.

"Why did you come back? What are you planning to do?"

"Hmm… I assume you don't like to waste your time. Looks like we have something in common. That's great, isn't it?"

"What's so great about having something in common with a psycho?"

By the reaction, he could tell that the comment wasn't appreciated. The serial killer narrowed his eyes and tilted his head, but that didn't affect Sehun at all because he was way more frightening than him. Sehun's eyes suddenly darkened and his expression went from uninterested to an intimidating one with an intense stare. That took the man in front of him by surprise and he could swear he saw him shiver for a second.

Before the older man could react, Sehun punched him in the face and kicked him in the stomach, making the other groan and kneel in front of him. In just a few seconds the sounds of the handcuffs could be heard in the room and everything went silent. And this was another thing that made Sehun special, his speed was always incredible. Honestly, he thought that it was gonna be more complicated to arrest him but that idiot couldn't do more than talk. He didn't have any strength and wasn't capable of even protecting himself.

With a disgusted face, Sehun stared down at the man that was still kneeling in front of him.

"That's why you always attacked and killed women, because they couldn't protect themselves due to the circumstances. It made you feel powerful even for just a little while. But guess what? You are still weak and now even pathetic for hurting innocent people just to make yourself feel better."

That being said, he forced the criminal to get up and walked to the car, meanwhile calling other officers to get some things ready, not being aware of the red pair of eyes that followed his every move.
