Being one of the few hunters at the top, the S-ranked Marksman Hunter "Ace" had it all. A strong sense of combat, wealth, fame, and a bright future ahead of him. Yet, despite it all, he felt nothing at all to his feats. He was just content with his life, not wanting anything else.

Having risen to unimaginable heights through battling many gates over the years, his glory was renowned throughout the world and was said to be one of the few hunters that would pave the path to a brighter future for their generation.

Yet, that was all thrown out of the window.

Almost a decade after The Great Awakening which shook the entirety of Terra, the Hunter "Ace" stood before many people as he announced something that no one could've ever imagined.

"Today, I will be announcing my retirement."

Yes. That day marked the end of one Hunter's journey.

Though, it was not out of his own free will.

Levelling by the Sidelines

With only a single use of the [ Soul Resonance ] skill, Jace was already feeling a headache. Fortunately, after cancelling half of his currently active [ Soul Channeler ] connections, the burden on his mind had lessened, allowing him to breathe again.

"Ack... Well, this is a problem..." his brows furrowed at that moment. "How am I supposed to use this skill practically in battle...?"

Given that using both skills at the same time would rapidly drain his mental energy, Jace had to be careful with their usage. After all, if he wished to function in battle, he had to manage his energy well enough.

"From the looks of it, if I want to use Soul Resonance, I'll have to sacrifice two connections to do so... And more if I want to activate a second one. But... This also clashes with some of my skill usages as well..." he frowned, his attention turning back towards the updated bond's description of Derek. "Sigh... This is a really big problem."
