Being one of the few hunters at the top, the S-ranked Marksman Hunter "Ace" had it all. A strong sense of combat, wealth, fame, and a bright future ahead of him. Yet, despite it all, he felt nothing at all to his feats. He was just content with his life, not wanting anything else.

Having risen to unimaginable heights through battling many gates over the years, his glory was renowned throughout the world and was said to be one of the few hunters that would pave the path to a brighter future for their generation.

Yet, that was all thrown out of the window.

Almost a decade after The Great Awakening which shook the entirety of Terra, the Hunter "Ace" stood before many people as he announced something that no one could've ever imagined.

"Today, I will be announcing my retirement."

Yes. That day marked the end of one Hunter's journey.

Though, it was not out of his own free will.

Levelling by the Sidelines

"Hey... What the?" At the sight before her, the black-haired girl frowned. "I thought I defeated this guy in one go!"

"ROARRRR!!!" Following her words, another roar rang out into the area. At that moment, it leapt straight towards Jace and Malory.

"...?!" Upon taking notice of the incoming attack, the two hunters began to scramble in different directions.

"OI! Your opponent is right here!" Jane cried out, swiftly jumping right in front of the beast and summoning a tree to block its path. "Don't attack my audience!"

"ROARRRR!!!" Without a care, the wolf headbutted directly into the tree stump. Now, it was attempting to smash it into smithereens.

"A-Ahh... Are we gonna die?!" As the cry of the boss monster echoed out into the area, the civilian screamed.

"Of course not! I'm here to save the day!" she reassured the man.

"Ugh... Well, this is troubling..." Jace furrowed his brows in thought. "A D-ranked wolf survived that kind of attack?"
