Doubtful Moment

Melody's mind raced, carefully considering her words before she spoke. She knew that revealing too much about her past could potentially unravel the delicate balance she had managed to maintain in her life. She wanted to trust Alex, but there were still secrets she wasn't ready to share.

With a guarded expression, she finally began to speak, choosing her words carefully to protect the fragments of her past that she held close.

"It was a shame what happened," Melody said with a touch of sadness in her voice. "My boss and I were on a business trip when a sudden storm hit our yacht. I lost my balance in the chaos and fell into the sea when the rough waves engulfed me." She stopped for a moment and looked away as she thought about the memory. "It was a hard time, but I was saved, thank goodness."

"Are you totally sure about that?" Alex asked, but there was a hint of doubt in his words. He couldn't get rid of the feeling that Melody wasn't telling the whole story.
