Setting out......ii

"This will be 9000 silver coins for the nine young men and three thousand five hundred silver coins for the females. The old man will be given to you as a discount."

She added the final part while looking at Wanjiru, hoping to curry a favour with him.

"Good, we'll take them all..."

He handed her the coins and took out fifteen blood contract. The woman clapped and two storky goblins walked up. She handed them the scroll and a few minutes later, the fifteen were brought forth.

Wanjiru handed each a blood contract before having their chains unlocked.

"From today you will all follow me..."he said as he looked at them kneeling before him,"your performance and loyalty shall act a major part on how you shall be treated."

He looked at Sinako before continuing,"Only those worthy of my recognition shall have their contract cancelled."

A slight smile appeared on the corners of Sinako's lips. From his Master's words,he knew that it won't be long before he has his contract cancelled. But to him, contract or not, he had already made up his mind.

"Rise!" Wanjiru ordered them.

"Yes Master..." they all answered in unison.

"Thank you esteemed guests for choosing to trade with us..."the hybrid merchant said as he handed Wanjiru a bronze token.

"Equipping this will warrant you a 5%discount on all our shops."

Wanjiru thanked her as he received the token. He handed the token and a poach containing a thousand silver coins to Sinako.

"Ensure that everyone gets three sets of clothes and a medium storage ring."

"Yes Master..."

Sinako bowed as he received the two items. The others hearing this, they quickly went down on their knees and thanked him. They were all happy and felt lucky for being chosen by such a kind hearted masters.

If they had known his true nature, they would have all rushed back to their cages.

The merchant watched silently as he wondered what kind of a man was this new client of hers.

"Also purchase the needed items as per the plan..."

Wanjiru turned and left to explore the rest of the underground market by himself.

Three hours later,a luxurious chariot being pulled by six black horses and guarded by four men on similar black horses left the city.

The guards didn't bother inspecting their identities as they feared angering the rich ladies in the chariot,if only they had known that these rich ladies were mere slaves and that one if the chariot guards was the man responsible for their Captain's disappearance, they won't had let them leave.

From the commotion created by luxurious chariot, nobody noticed a certain middle aged man and an elderly man exit the gate.

They were later followed by a team of five men clad in normal leather armour. They resembled a team of players headed out for some hunting quest.

As Wanjiru walked along the paved road with Nerdy, his newly acquired slave,he pondered on how much his original plan differed from the current one.

In his original plan, there was no mention of any slave yet here he was with sixteen of them.

He sighed as he looked towards the heavens when a certain phrase back on earth creepy into his mind...

"Man plans but God fulfills"

"What wrong Master?"

The old man asked though he was his slave,he saw Wanjiru as his elder son. After interacting with him for just a few hours, the old man also understoot that to Wanjiru, viewed them all as his subordinate.

He knew well that acting like a slave wouldn't work well for him and so he chose a direct way.

Wanjiru smiled at the old man as he inwardly praised.

"As expected of the old, they are quick to grasp on things."

"I had a plan, but according to the way it's progressing,I have to rethink it." he sighed.

After pondering for a while, the old man spoke.

"This old man has a suggestion..."

"Speak..."

Wanjiru slowed as he could see there was a group of players several metres in front of them and he didn't wish for their conversation to be overheard.

"If the plan was important to Master, there is no need to rethink..."

With a piqued look, Wanjiru asked..."What do you mean?"

"Master can just decide to use the original plan as a guide while he adapts to the changes on it."

Wanjiru pondered for a while before putting on a genuine smile.

"This Master is greatful for old man's advice, you have truly opened my eyes."

He said as he bowed towards the old man. When the other team of five following them from a distance, they looked at each other.

"We truly were lucky..."one of them said.

"Yeah..."the rest answered in unison as they quickened their pace.

The old man didn't expect Wanjiru to bow and he quickly stopped him.

"I should be the one bowing and thanking master for his grace,if it wasn't for you seeing the value in my old bones and getting me out of that slave house..." he said as he bowed..."nobody knows if I would have leaved to walk the earth again."

His voice was dejected as flashbacks of the horrors he went through in that slave house.

"No need..." Wanjiru said as he handed him a ,"Here have this as a little gift from me."

The old man jaw dropped as he inspected the stone.

"This old man bones are already aged and can't be if any use to master in the long-term."

Nerdy refused the stone politely.

Wanjiru broke into laughter as he looked at the old man.

"Wether your old bones will be of any use to me or not...that's mine to worry about."

"And who said the stone is given for free?"

Wanjiru looked at the others behind them and signaled them to join them. By now, they had already walked further from the city.

"I want you to change into a scholar and start researching on basic teleportation channel."

The old man eyes sparkled as he had always dreamnt of being a scholar but since he came from a small family, with no wealth or power,no single faction or master agreed to take him in.

For all his life,he has been studying and research books he could lay his hands on and carried out numerous experiments.

But due to the lack of the scholar's profession, all his experiments resulted in failure. Now that he had a Master who not only took him in but also handed him such an expensive stone,he promised himself on making his master proud of himself.
