CHAPTER 62

Yoo Na got ready to meet Dae Hyun like he had informed her in the letter he placed for her along with the wedding invitation. It was a Saturday, so she was free. She arrived at the company and Min Hye gave her a small smile and she returned it as she led her into the vice chairman's office.

Dae Hyun caught sight of her and a smile formed on his lips on seeing her.

"You're here? What took you so long? Have you been busy with school?" Dae Hyun queried like a charming gentleman.

"Yes." She replied as she sat down, wondering why he summoned her presence.

"You must be wondering why you're here." Dae Hyun stated out as he positioned his glasses properly on the bridge of his nose.

"Yes, Sir."

"You can call me Dae Hyun, no need to be so formal, I've actually grown a liking to you. You remind me so much of my sister." He said as his expression looked like he was reminiscing old memories of his sister, whereas there was none.

Yoo Na wondered if he was speaking the truth as his facial expression didn't give out any harmful impression, his presence felt serene and comfortable, she wondered if she was suspecting the wrong person but she would continue with her observation before making any final verdict. She couldn't let his harmless impression blind her senses, anyone could be the killer but who?

"I'm sorry, it must hurt to see someone who reminds you of your sister." Yoo Na said eager to get a conversation with him. If there was anyway she could observe him and know more about him, then it would be engaging in a conversation with him.

"No, not all. She doesn't look like you, her personality is similar to yours, she's strong headed and stubborn but she's very motivated about whatever she sets her mind to achieve, she doesn't give up easily and she's confident too." Dae Hyun explained and she wondered if he had a sister that no one knew about as he seemed to explain her personality trait very well like she really existed in his life.

"That's nice, but I hope it doesn't offend you but I researched on your family but a sister wasn't stated, in fact you were the only child of your parents, so which sister are you talking about?" Yoo Na questioned with a blank look on her face as she tried to decipher what he was thinking but he was like an enigmatic hard puzzle to solve.

Her questions didn't surprise him, he knew she would research about him, she was a smart girl but no matter how smart she was, he had more experience and he would always be ten steps ahead of them, it was his game and no one played it better than him.

"She was my step sister, my father had an affair with another woman secretly and she had a child for him, he had kept her a secret and I didn't know about her only after my parents had died in a fire accident and afterwards, I took it as a responsibility to take care of her. Obviously, no one knew about her not even after she died, I kept it confidential, you know how people are, they'd try to make the worst rumours and news out of the innocent girl's tragedy." He explained, his pained expression and explanation seemed liable and she bought it. She didn't want to point fingers at him or doubt him so soon and at the same time, she didn't want to trust him so soon, for now, he would be under her observation.

"I'm sorry." She said with a low voice as she heard the heart wrenching tragedy he went through.

"It's okay, her name was Song min if you still don't believe me." He said firmly. Song Min was one of his youngest victims, she was sixteen when he took her life and he never forgot his victim's names or faces, he could still vividly remember everything about them as he kept them carefully in his dark memories like trophies. The young girl was an orphan, she had a single mother who was already dead and her father was unknown, that was why he was so confident about disclosing her name to Yoo Na to carry out her research on her, because it would blend in with his story wonderfully.

Yoo Na was dumbfounded by his sincerity, she was confused and she started having serious doubts about Dae Hyun being the killer, she couldn't make sense out of any of it, he was so confident about his sister and his story about her didn't feel like something that was made up, she could hear the emotion in his voice when he talked about her, no matter how good a person lied, they could never make up an emotion. She thought it was impossible, so what if Dae Hyun was saying the truth, then who was the killer?

Yoo Na didn't say anymore as she pressed her lips in a thin line. It wouldn't be so bad if Dae Hyun wasn't the killer since the killer would then have no awareness about their plans but then she would be back in square one, with no suspects or leads. She wondered if the deaths he had been connected to were just coincidental or suspicious. She would only be able to find out the truth once she got her hands on those footages but she was impatient, the footages would take up a lot of time.

"I called you here for two things." Dae Hyun informed her as he diverted the topic easily. She was eager to know what he called her for.

"The investment. You have to be patient with the results because the profits from the investment will only be received after a few months after the stocks have all been sold out, so you have to wait patiently." He informed her in a professional tone. She nodded understandingly, she wasn't in any rush to make money, she could wait as long as he wanted. He paused and she waited for the second reason.

"My fiancee wants you to be her maid of honor, as well as I, she doesn't have any friends and I think it's a good idea if you do it, she's grown a liking to you too." Dae Hyun said with a short chuckle as he waited for her reply.

Yoo Na wondered why Min Hye would choose her of all persons to be her bridesmaid, they had had dinner together with Dae Hyun and Cha Eun a few times before, per Dae Hyun's offer and they had chatted a little over dinner since Min Hye had taken an interest on the girl whose personality was similar to hers but still, she didn't think they were that close enough but seeing as she had no friends, she could understand a little.

"Ahh, that's so kind of the both of you." Yoo Na said politely, she wondered what they'd tell her to be next, maybe the godmother for the children they'd give birth to.

"So, will you do it?" Dae Hyun asked with a grin and she chuckled nervously before saying,

"How can I refuse?" He was satisfied with her reply. He was slowly clearing the doubts she had against him, which he was sure she had before but now, it was slowly disappearing and fading away, he could see it in her eyes. He would make her trust him to the highest length she wouldn't have a hint of doubt and even when she would find out the truth, she would never have guessed and she would find it hard to believe, no! He would make her trust him to the extent she would never believe he was really the killer.

"My fiancee is going to pick a wedding dress after work, you'll come with us so you can pick yours too." He said with a charming smile at her.

"Thank you." She replied as she stared at him perplexed. He gave out such a harmless impression, he was so charming and decent to the core. He emanated such a trustworthy aura around him that it was hard for her to keep on suspecting him, he was a perfect gentleman. He was obviously happy about getting married and he looked like an innocent man who enjoyed the simple things of life, he was getting married to a simple woman and they'd have a simple and happy life together.

But the devil once wore the mask of an angel and it wouldn't seem impossible to her if the man turned out to be the killer, but she would be truly shocked if he was.
