Mùchén and Míngzé were playing in the rain. They built a little boat, eager to see it float down the stream of water that washed along the sidewalk it flowed down the stream of water Mùchén and Míngzé followed it.
As it sailed down the stream, the streets were quiet, and cars passed at least every thirty minutes.
They followed the boat, and Míngzé said, "Mermeruchen," as he stuttered, "this boat is going towards the d d d drain w w we better stop it."
Mùchén ran after the boat, which was going faster and faster with the heavy rainfall, and just as they reached the drain, Mùchén leaned over to pick it up, and an arm came out of the drain grabbing Mùchén by the wrist.
They could only see red eyes and razor-sharp white teeth Míngzé screamed, "h h h h heeeelp somebody."
And half an hour after the rain poured, the bodies of the two young boys were discovered down on Michen street next to the street.
Detective Bolin stood in the rain, looking at te bodies of the two young boys. He had never seen anything like this before.
The boy's eyes were out; they were as pale as a ghost, their arms were detached from their bodies, their legs were spread far apart, and their ribs were broken as if something had tried pulling them down.
Detective Bolin had smoked his fourth cigarette for the day as he walked around the crime scene. He bent over and looked down into the drain.
There was nothing but dark, not ordinary darkness. It was the type of darkness kids wouldn't play around in. There was just enough light shining through for this to see something red. Was it a stain?
Detective Bolin walked over to his car and removed a swap with a small plastic, kneeled, and rubbed the swap over the drain. He stood up and looked around.
There were houses around, "did they get statements from the residence?"
"Yes, Sir, no one saw anything."
Detective Bolin looked up, and there were windows open, "it was broad daylight. How could no one have seen anything?"
"We have one old lady who claims she saw a man with sharp teeth like a shark's and red eyes."
Detective Boline raised his eyebrows, "ever since this twilight and vampire diaries came out, people have been claiming to see these things lately. Have you detained the lady?"
"Yes, detective, I have, but she is quite old."
"What about the parents of these kids?"
"We haven't been able to get hold of them."
"These bloody lazy parents these days, they don't parent their kids, then we end up with these cases, and they adamant it's our fault we not doing out job."
Detective Bolin lit another cigarette and tossed the match on the crime scene, "so where is this lady?"
The officer pointed across to the ambulance.
The Detective walked over to the lady wearing a wooly blue coat with a patch on a shield.
It had a dagger with snakes around it, her hair was grey and curly, her eyes had heavy bags under them as if she had not slept in days, and her nails had dirt under them, but her eyes were different. It was brown, and she quickly expressed emotion through her eyes.
She looked up as she stood up.
"Bolin, is that you?"
He nodded his head "yes, mam, do I know you from somewhere?"
She shook her head, "no, you don't, but I know about you. I have known your mom since school."
She grabbed, exposing her stained yellow teeth, "young man, you look so much like your dad."
Who is this? He was wondering.
As he walked over to his car and removed a notebook with a pen, he wrote something down before saying anything.
Detective Bolin was surprised to hear the woman knew his family. He was in the new city for only three months because of the transfer to investigate these recent mysterious deaths.
He was one of the top detectives since he dedicated most of his life to psychology, studying criminal minds, but he had never seen such deaths in all his years.
"Mam, can we push aside how you know me and tell me what you had seen from the start."
The old lady had started biting her nails, looking around frantically, "he's here, he's here: please leave me alone.
He's going to kill me also."
Detective wrote down the words, delusional, and Man, he closed his book, the lady then made eye contact as her pupils grew wide, and in a thick voice, she said, "Mr. Bolin, you can't bring justice, justice will come to you."
"What do you mean."
Her eyes became normal, as if she had a split personality. She looked at detective Bolen and stood up.
She placed her warm hand on Mr. Bolen's hand, "it's a long way to go. You will step into darkness if you choose this road."
Out of the alley, there was a scream. All the cops took their guns and ran up to the passage. It was empty.
They focused on the crime scene as they wandered around the passage.
There was no one. Mr. Bolen ran back to the crime scene.
The body bags were missing, and so were all their cars, "how is this possible?"
He ran around looking for cars, ambulances, and bodies, and all were gone.
Detective Bolem ran over to where the lady was standing, she had left, and there was no trace of anyone at the crime scene except for a bunch of witnesses who were afraid to speak up.
Detective Bolen lit another cigarette, confused at what had happened, "do you know that the cigarettes will cause your death someday?"
That was his partner Xia, "finally and you will be late for your funeral someday,"
"So what do we have here because I don't see anything?"
"We had something. We heard a scream and went to investigate it, and when we got back, everything was gone."
"Everything as in the bodies and cars. For them to take off with all that, you guys had to be away for hours."
"We were away for five minutes or ten minutes at most."
Xia stood in the middle of the crime scene and did that famous thing she always did. She had a torch with a violet light that helped see fingerprints and footprints.
"If I never knew better, I would say they planned that to happen, but with that time frame, they needed resources, and that's not manufactured resources. It's the resources that I would see in a sci-fi movie."
"You are starting to sound like that old lady."
"What, old lady?"
"The one who also disappeared."
Xia walked over to the alley where they heard the scream coming from.
She walked down, and two officers walked behind her. These cops confirmed they heard a scream. She looked down at the corners of the passage, which consisted mainly of dirt.
Until she noticed something the others had not seen, it was a yellow stone glowing but fragile. On the left side, towards the wired fence, was red smeared across the face-brick wall.
Xia used a swap and placed it in the bag in the far corner of the passage. Xia noticed shoes standing up straight, covered by black bags of waste, she moved her mask, started removing the bags one by one, and after ten minutes of removing the black bags, she saw the heads of two boys.
The arms were lying aside.
Xia felt like she was about to through up as she closed her eyes, stood up, and turned back. Xia whistled over to detective Bolin as he came with three officers following him. "What is wrong? You look sick."
She pointed her thumb indicator to the back. With a sigh of relief, Detective Bolin said, "it's the two missing bodies."
"The two missing bodies that were over there?" Xia pointed to the crime scene, "and miraculously ended up going here?"
"I know it sounds crazy, but ask the others."
"No need."
The sun started to set as the light of the passage switched on. The crime scene had been cleared, and detective Xia and Bolin started picking up after everyone left.
A cold breeze blew through the alley as dark shadows seemed to void the only visibility of the light, "something is happening. We need to go."
Detective Bolin agreed as he felt a strong presence within the shadows of the dark.
As they were exiting the passage, three men with black hoods and exposed razor-sharp teeth stood there at the exiting, staring directly at them.
"Gentleman, we are cops," detective Bolin pulled out his badge showing them, "you need to turn around, or we will open fire on you."
The men ignored their request and walked closer, and they moved closer. Xia noticed their sharp nails and screamed, "stop," holding her firearm.
