We were completely overwhelmed.

I watched in slow motion as numerous arrows flew in our direction. We never saw it coming. They came from above the twin hills that bordered the road. Then came the foreign battle cry as the bronze-skinned men rode down the hill with their weapons out to attack us.

The odds were completely against us, but no one deserted. My men put up a good fight, and they fell valiantly doing their duty. Even my faithful destrier, who'd accompanied me throughout the years, met his end.

I watched them fall. I watched it over and over again. Sometimes I was part of the battle, fighting alongside them; sometimes I was just an observer, unable to do anything but scream in silence as I watched them all die. These nightmares kept recurring, never giving me a moment's peace.
