THUNDERSTORM

With my eyes shut, I covered my ears with my hands to block out the horrifying rumble of thunder as I cringed into a terrified ball.

It was so loud! It felt like it was right above my head!

I felt Luca's hands holding my shoulders and hauling me up to my feet just as the heavy droplets began to fall. "Come on, Lena. We have to find shelter!" he said urgently.

Another streak of lightning flitted in the sky, and I instinctively jumped to Luca, clutching his shirt and burying my forehead in his chest right as the thunder boomed.

Shelter? But where?

There wasn't a cave or a rock overhang in sight. There was a shallow cove beneath the waterfall, but going into the water in a thunderstorm would likely get us electrocuted. The trees weren't a good place to take shelter either. What if lightning struck them?
