Chapter 18: The Cruel Redeemer

The sound of metal clanking against one another woke Warona up from a horrible sleep.

Her eyes squinted in darkness, catching a subtle sight of charcoal skin. Claws over strikingly bony fingers, messing with the lock of her cell.

What in the world –

"Silent." the gargoyle grunted in a whisper before she could finish her thought. "Stay silent."

Warona shuffled, sitting up straight to look at her neighbor cell, only to find Calvin still dead asleep.

The metal door creaked open, but the girl remained on the ground. Stagnant.

What was happening? She internally fretted.

Wasn't it in the middle of the night?

The gargoyle rushed in, caught her by her arm and with too tight a grip, pulled her to her wobbly feet.

Then Warona saw its face.

His face.

That face.

A wave of agony hit her once again, but this time, it came harder.

How could he have the decency to even look into my eyes after what he'd done? How fucking could he! She yelled inside her head.
