Ava
I walk down the dimly lit hallway, my mind a thousand miles away and not really paying attention to where I’m going. I was, at first, trying to find Tom, but as I went along, I found myself wandering in the endless maze of the compound.
I blink in surprise when I come to a dead end. What was I thinking of again?
I rub my temple, unsure of what I’m supposed to do.
Everything just seems so complicated these days, I might as well hide in a dark closet for all the good I’m doing.
My side still hurts from the fight a few days ago. I received a good gash from one of the other shifters. It’s healed now, but it sure left a nasty scar. Just another one to add to the collection, I suppose.
I turn around, prepared to walk the other way when I realize I’ve stopped in front of Devon’s door. The door is firmly shut and locked, with no guards posted outside.
