Chapter 46: The Town

My nose didn’t deceive me. This really is a human town. A small one, granted, but there still might be clothes around here somewhere, and once I have those, I should be able to find out where I am.

I search the town’s perimeter for a sign that might tell me its name. I don’t find one. What I do find is an older man with a beer belly and a long, ill-kept beard. He’s sitting on his patio, smoking when he spots me. Straight away, he rushes into his house. At first, it seems like he’s running into his house to get away from me, but less than a minute later, he emerges with a shotgun.

By the time I realize what he’s doing, he’s already fired. Several shotgun pellets imbed into my flesh. I run. He fires again, and more of them burrow into me. I yelp. Just because they’re not made of silver doesn’t mean they don’t f*cking hurt!
