Chapter 19: To be fond of dancing was a certain step towards falling in love.

The day has passed in a haze more blissful than Aidan can ever remember feeling in all his years in Wynne House. Even his parents have ceased their endless snide and sneering glances and quips at his and Aures’ expense to enjoy a day of festivity, which Aidan is quite sure is because a) Lilliana is paying for everything, and b) her nonstop flirting with him gives them hope for a ‘brighter future’.

Aidan’s been the centre of women’s affections before. He can do this for one day if it means some peace.

Speaking of peace: Aeron has been conspicuously absent since Edmund dealt with him. Aidan doesn’t even think he’s in the house, as his room is empty and the place is bustling with decorators and caterers for tonight’s party, and he hasn’t come out to call anyone incompetent yet.
