The knock was familiar to Alonzo, and he was suddenly reminded of his fears of the bureau and Stanley. He sat up quickly and wiped at his face to hide the fact he was crying and he opened the door to reveal that it was who he feared it was, and Stanley did not look happy.
“What the hell are you doing in here, Alonzo? James is out there patrolling and so should you be.” He said with anger evident in his tone.
Alonzo swallowed a bit. “I noticed James was headed home for the night so I decided to come back and rest.” He lied as he stared down into Stanley’s eyes. Though the silver knife at his side was not missed.
Stanley narrowed his eyes. “You think I’m meant to believe that? I know who Edwin Lavant was to you. And as much as I didn’t want to believe it, I knew you were going to flake on me when you figured out it was him.”
