Back at the manor, everyone who wanted to stay with Edwin were packed and ready to leave, but as the night went on, people began to lose hope, and those who were not so loyal began to trickle out.
Even those who had been there for a while, like the doorman and the chef and even Edwin’s driver, began to get a little flighty, but they were choosing to stick it out.
The only ones to keep their hope were Jamie and Lily, their loyalty sticking through to the end.
“They will be here any moment, I can feel it,” Jamie reassured as he continued to pace in the main room of the house, his eyes trained on the front door.
Someone in the group then piped up. “Yeah, as you’ve said the last few hours. He’s probably dead by now!”
Jamie immediately turned on the person and growled. “No, he’s not.”
“How can you be so sure?! We should have left the moment we were all ready!” the creature retorted.
Jamie growled again even deeper. “If that’s what you think then why don’t you just go?!”
